North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology conducts a NEE- 2009 for all eligible candidate who want to take admission in Base (Certificate), Diploma and Degree Modules at NERIST in the Technology/ Engineering and Forestry streams. The Entrance examinations NEE-II & NEE-III will be held on 25th April, 2009 (Saturday) and NEE-I on 26th April, (Sunday).

Eligibility for NEE I 2009:

Eligibility criteria
(i) The candidate should have passed metric or Class-X examination of 10+2 system or an equivalent examination with Science and Mathematics. The candidate should have passed in Science and Mathematics respectively.
(ii) Candidates appearing in the above mentioned examination, but whose results are awaited may also appear in the NERIST Entrance Examination.
(iii) A certificate to this effect is to be obtained from the Principal of the school and must be attached with the application. In case, such a candidate is selected, he/she must produce the original pass certificate and marks sheet at the time of his/her admission. Otherwise, his/her admission will automatically get cancelled.

Eligibility for NEE II 2009:

(a) Age
23 years (28 years for SC/ST/PH and 26 years for OBC and female candidates) as on 1st August , 2009.

(b) Eligibility criteria:
(i) For Engineering and Technology Stream
(i) The candidate should have passed 10+2 PCM/ PCMB, 10+2 Vocational in Electronics/ Farm Machinery & Equipment / Electrical / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Automobile Technology/ Structure & Fabrication Technology/ Computer Science OR NERIST Certificate (E&T). Candidates with 10+2 (Vocational)/ NERIST certificate holders are eligible for admission in Computer Science and Engineering or in their respective branches.
(ii) 10+2 PCM/PCMB candidate should have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately.

Eligibility for Forestry stream
(i) The candidate should have passed 10+2 PCB/PCMB, 10+2 (vocational in Forestry/ Horticulture) or NERIST Certificate (Forestry).
(ii) The candidate should have passed 10+2 PCB/PCMB candidates should have passed in Physics, Chemistry & Biology separately. Candidates appearing in the above mentioned examination, whose results are awaited, may also appear in the Entrance Examination. Selection process

However, in case of non-availability of a seat at the centers chosen by the candidate, the candidate shall be required to appear for the written qualifying test at the centre allotted by the Institute.
(ii) The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyse and reason. Therefore, the examination is General Aptitude Test & no separate syllabus is prescribed.
(iii) The results of the written test along with the details of the interviews shall be available on the website of the Institute as well as on the Notice Board of the Institute on February 20, 2009.
(iv) Interviews will be held at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 4-7, 2009. The Interviews will be held in two stages. The candidates will be short-listed for the final interview based on their performance in the first interview. Final interview will be held in the last two days.
(v) The selected candidates would be paid second class train fare for joining the Ph.D. Programme on providing the proof of journey.

Eligibility for MD / MS / Diplomas
(i) The Candidate who have qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree of the Madras University or any other University recognised as equivalent by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and have completed their compulsory rotating residential internship and obtained full registration before 15/05/2009 are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses.

The Selection Process
The selection of candidates for postgraduate courses will be according to the directives of the CMC
Vellore Council. Fifty percent of seats in each course are reserved for sponsored candidates, provided they
fulfill other criteria for eligibility for admission. However, more than 50% of the available seats may be allotted to sponsored candidate based on their ranking in the selection test. The wait list is based on ranking in the selection tests. The first sponsored candidate on the waiting list will ordinarily fill vacancies arising by sponsored candidates not accepting a seat to make up 50% reservation for sponsored candidates. In the event that more than 50% of the seats in any course are filled by sponsored candidates and one of the sponsored candidates does not accept the seat, it will be offered to the next candidate on the wait list by rank irrespective of whether he or she is sponsored or open. No admissions will be made after 25th May 2009.
