CBSE Announces Two Merit-Based Scholarships

The CBSE has started two merit-based scholarships for professional studies (medical and engineering) and another for undergraduate studies (non-medical and non-engineering). These scholarships are self-selective. Meritorious students of the AIPMT/AIEEE and Class XII public examinations, conducted by the board 2005 onwards, will be automatically considered. They would be valid for any other scholarship or benefit as well. A total of 500 scholarships a year (2,000 annually after four years), each worth Rs 1,000 per month, would be awarded for four years to those pursuing medical/engineering courses in the institutes participating in the CBS-conducted AIPMT/AIEE examinations or the Union government-controlled/aided institutes.

EU Open Up To Indian Students

The European Union has extended the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships programme to India, which will open up about 35 masters courses for Indian students in the European Union. Scholars will go for an average of three months to work for one of the Erasmus masters courses. The first batch of 133 Indians will travel to different universities in Europe in October. THE HRD Ministry has decided to make reservation for scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and other backward caste students mandatory in foreign universities opening their campuses in India.
