Exam Details: Joint Admission Test to MSc (JAM 2006) will be held on 26th March, 2006 (Sunday) for admission to Two year MSc programmes in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee). Three year post- BSc programmes (MTech in Applied Geology/ Applied Geophysics and MCA) at NT Roorkee and MSc - PhD Dual Degree programmes in Physics at IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur.

Eligibility: A candidate is required to qualify in the corresponding Test Paper and must also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility requirements as specified by the admitting Institute. Reservation of seats for SC/ ST and PH category candidates will be as per Gov rules. Candidates appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree are also eligible to appear in JAM 2006.

How To Apply: Application Forms and Information Brochures can be obtained on payment of application fee of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates) during November 28, 2005 to January 6, 2006 from the designated branches of Canara Bank in the country. The application material can also be obtained by Post from JAM Office, IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi-110016 by sending a request along with a self-addressed slip and a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 650/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of Chairman JAM, IIT Delhi payable at New Delhi, which must reach, JAM Office, IIT Delhi latest by December 23,2005. ONLINE REGISTRATION facility shall be available from November 28, 2005 at the website http://jam.iitd.ac.in.

JAM 2006 will have eight Test Papers, namely: Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, MCA and Physics each of three hours duration. The Biotechnology and MCA Test Papers will be fully objective type while the other papers will be Objective-cum-Subjective type. Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) 2007

Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) 2007 will be geld on March 25, 2007 (Sunday) at 34 cities in the country Admission to two year M.Sc. programmes at all IITs, three year MCA & M.Tech. In Applied Geophysics at IIT Roorkee and M.Sc Ph.D. Duel Degree in Physics at IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur for the academic session 2007 08 shall be made through JAM 2007.

Test Papers: JAM 2007 will have Eight Test Papers, namely, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Application Geography, Geophysics, Mathematical Statistical, Mathematics, and Physics each of three hours duration. The Biotechnology and Computer Applications test papers will be fully Objective type while the other papers will be Objective-cum-Subjective type. A candidate can appear at the most in TWO test papers subject to the restrictions of test schedule with additional fee for the second test papers.

Eligibility for Admission: A candidate is required to quality in the corresponding test paper and must also satisfy the minimum educational qualification and eligibility requirements as specified by the admitting institute. Candidates appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree are also eligible to appear in JAM 2007.

Reservations: Reservation for candidates belonging to SC, ST and Person with Disability (PD) are as per GOI rules. Reservation for OBC candidates, if any, would be notified on the websites of IITs, as and when Government order for the same are issued.

Application Forms & Information Brochures can be obtained on payment of application fee of Rs.800/- for General Category Male candidates. Rs.700/- for General Category Female Candidates and Rs.400/- for SC/ST candidates during November 13, 2006 to January 5, 2007 from the designated branches of Canara Bank in the country. The self-addressed slip and a crossed Demand Draft of Rs.850/- for General Category Male, Rs.750/- for General Category Female and Rs.450/- for SC/ST candidates drawn in favor of Chairman. JAM. IIT Guwahati payable at Guwahati, which must reach. JAM Office of any one of the IITs latest by December 26. 2006.

Online Registration facility shall be available from November 13, 2006 at http://www.iitg.ernet.in/jam or http://www.iitg.ac.in/jam.

The completed Application Form / Online Registration Form must be sent only to the Organizing Chairman, JAM 2007.IIT Guwahati, Guwahati 781 039 and must reach IIT Guwahati on or before January 12, 2007. Eligibility for Ph.D Programme:

Post B.Sc: JEST (90 percentile and above) / JAM.

Post M.Sc: JEST, NET, GATE (90 percentile and above)

Minimum Marks in B.Sc-Part I and / or Part III:

55% marks in Physics honours with Chemistry and Mathematics as subsidiary, if the university has a houours system.

55% marks on the aggregate with Physics chemistry Mathematics combination, if the university does not have an honours system

M.Sc: 55% marks in Physics and Mathematical Sciences

Entrance Procedure: Interviews at the Centre tentatively in the 2nd week of June 2006. Selected candidates should bring the mark sheets and certificates in original.

Entitlements:

TA for outstation examinees-Sleeper class Train fare (short Route)

If admitted Rs. 5000 per month as stipend for the first two years for Post B.Sc students.

Rs. 8000 per month upon completion of the M.Sc Degree (4 semesters-course credit programme) and joining the Ph.D Programme

For Post M.Sc the successful candidates will get Rs.8000 p.m as stipend for the first 2 years as JRF leading to SRF with a stipend of Rs.9000 per month
