Applications are invited for admission to full-time Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Programme 2007-2010, at Mesra and our Extension Centres at Allahabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lalpur and Noida.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have Mathematics at 10+2/Intermediate level and must also have Mathematics or Statistics as a subject at graduation level (10+2+3 system), or must be a BCA or equivalent, with at least 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in graduation (average of all subjects). Candidates must also have minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) in Class 10 (average of all subjects) and Class 12 (average of best 5 subjects, including Mathematics). Candidates graduating in 2007 can also apply, provided they can submit mark sheets by 30 September 2007. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if they acquired such qualifications as working professionals/while in employment.

Selection Procedure:

Entrance Test on 22 May 2007 at Allahabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, New Delhi, Patna and Ranchi.

Applications in the prescribed forms are invited for admission Ph.D. programmes in the various disciplines of Agricultural Sciences.

Eligibility: Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks OR an overall grade point average (OGPA) of 7.50 out of 10.00 OR 3.75 out of 5.00 OR 3.00 out of 4.00 OR 2.25 out of 3.00 (For SC / ST/ PH candidates. 55% marks OR OGPA of 6.88 out of 10.00 OR 3.44 out of 5.00 OR 2.75 out of 4.00 OR 2.06 out of 3.00) in Masters Degree Programme.

In the universities where OGPA is awarded no equivalence of grades to percentage shall be considered for determining the eligibility qualification for appearing in the entrance examination. The candidates who have appeared in the Masters degree examination in the year 2007 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission.

Programmes

M. Tech: An advanced course-driven, two year programme with opportunities for project work in the final semester.

M. Phil (Computational Linguistics only)/MS by Research: A research driven masters programme open to students with an advanced background in relevant areas. A research thesis is central to this programme. Expected duration is 2 years.

PG Diploma in Computational Linguistics: This is a 1-year programme that gives students an opportunity to learn the basics of the subject and an experience in developing linguistic resources for natural language processing.

Ph. D: The programme requires course work and clearing of breadth and depth qualifiers followed by thesis work. Approximate duration of this programme is 3 to 5 years.

Admission Procedure

Admission to PG programmes will be on the basis of the performance in the Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE 2007) and an interview to be held at Hyderabad. However, exceptional candidates can be called directly for the interview on the basis of their applications for Ph. D. or MS by Research programmes.

How to Apply

All Applications should be made through the Post-Graduate Admissions Postal. Applicants can apply for one or more programmes in the same form by indicating choices. The application fee is Rs.800/- for one programme and Rs.50/- extra for each additional programme applied for. Application fee in the form of a demand draft drawn in favor of IIIT, Hyderabad must reach the Chairman, PG Admissions on or before March 31, 2007.

Note: Application will be considered valid only after the receipt of application fee.

Post Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE 2007)

An all-India examination will be conducted on May 20, 2007 (Sunday). The examination will be held in Hyderabad and in a number of major cities in the country depending on the number of applicants from each region. The entrance examination will consist of two papers. Paper 1 will test the general aptitude of the candidates and will consist of objective questions in Mathematics, Programming, and Logical Reasoning. Paper II is the Subject area Paper, which will test the candidates domain knowledge.

Course Fees & Financial Aid

The tuition fee for all post-graduate programmes is Rs.50, 000/- per semester. Full financial support including tuition and stipend is available for MS by Research and Ph. D. students in the form of teaching or research assistantships. We expect to provide financial assistance to all students during their research work. Partial financial support, in the form of teaching assistantships, is available for the M. Tech students during their second year. This will be based on their academic performance. Financial support is available for all students admitted to the M. Tech, M. Phil & PG Diploma program in Computational Linguistics and for Gate qualified students in certain other specializations.

Research Exchange Programme

Brilliant young students are invited to apply for the Research Exchange Ph. D. Programme at the institute. Students admitted to this programme will spend equal time shared between IIT, Hyderabad and a partner research group at a world-class University. Financial support is guaranteed at both ends. This Programme, involving several students is already operative with selected research groups at CMU, UPenn, University of IIIinois etc. For admission into this programme, applicants to the Ph. D. programme of the institute need to select the Research Exchange option on the portal.
