a) M.SC. Forestry (29 Seats): Eligibility: Three years Bachelors degree in science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelors degree in Agriculture of Forestry.

b) M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology (29 Seats): Eligibility: Three years Bachelors degree with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry or B.Sc. degree in Forestry.

c) M.Sc. Environment Management (29 Seats): Eligibility: Three years Bachelors degree in any branch of basic or applied Sciences or Bachelors Degree in Forestry of Agriculture or BE / B.Tech in Environment Science.

d) P.G.D. in Natural Resource Management (19 Seats): (1 year duration) Eligibility: M.SC. in Botany, Zoology, Forestry, Chemistry

II. Percentage Of Marks (in the qualifying examination): Candidates having 50% or above marks in general category and 45% marks for Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes may apply.

V. How To Apply: Information Bulletin and application form can be obtained by post by submitting a Bank Draft for Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) payable at Dehradun in favour of Registrar, FRI University, P.O.I.P.E., Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun 248 195.

Application Forms will also be available from the counter of the Union Bank of India (FRI Branch, Dehra Dun). For details please refer to Information Bulletin 2007. A candidate who wants to apply for two or more courses has to fill up separate form for each course. Application form may also be downloaded / submitted online from the website: www.icfre.org / www.fri.res.in, however a printed copy of the submitted form must also be sent by mail with two passport size photographs and the demand draft of Rs.400/- in favour of Registrar, FRI University payable at Dehra Dun. School of Medical Science and Technology

Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) is a unique 3-year programme for MBBS graduates (degree recognized by Medical Council of India), with aptitude for technological applications in medical science. All the candidates admitted to the programme are offered an assistantship of Rs.10, 000 p.m. Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Government of India rules. Reservation for OBC candidates would be implemented as and when government orders for the same are issued. MMST 2007 application can be submitted only by an online process (internet based) by accessing the website http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mmst during 23 Jan-22 Feb, 2007. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.1000 (Rs.500 for SC/ST category) by obtaining a demand draft in favour of IIT Kharagpur payable at any nationalized bank in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the Online Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the Online Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed form with candidates signature and photograph and the Demand Draft must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach The Chairman, Gate, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721 302 by February 26, 2007.

Objective: University of Pune (UoP) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, will conduct the Bioinformatics National certification (BINC) examination. The objective of this examination is to identify bioinformatics professionals. This will help potential employers in recruitment of exceptional candidates.

Eligibility: Any graduate in science, agriculture, veterinary, medicine, pharmacy, engineering and technology are eligible to appear in the examination. They need not have any formal training, diploma, or certificate in bioinformatics.

Application and Syllabus: The online application can be filled from 10th November 2006 to 30th January 2007. National advisory committee approved syllabus is available online. It consists of four sections: biology, physical and chemical sciences, IT, and bioinformatics.

Examination: The examination fee is Rs. 600/- for general and Rs. 450/- for reserved category 9 as per government of India rule) and is scheduled on 24 25 February 2007. The paper I will be objective type. The paper II will be short answer type, while the paper III will be a computer based practical. This year a cash prize will be awarded to the top 5 bioinformatics.

A computer based online test for admission to Integrated first degree programmes; 1 Semester 2007 08

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Bits) Pilani is a University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide notification No.F.12-23/63, U-2, dated 18th June, 1964 of the Govt. of India. It is an all-India Institute for higher education for men and women, fully residential, and awards its own degrees. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of Bits, Pilani, at Pilani campus and Goa Campus, for the academic year 2007-08 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by Bits, Pilani. The test will be called Bits Admission Test-2007, in short as Bitsat 2007.

BITSAT: Salient Features

The candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the monitor and the candidate submits his answers through the use of key board or mouse.

The computer is connected to the server, which delivers the test, in real time through a reliable connectivity.
The online tests are conducted at several centers in India, during May-June every year

Candidate can choose the center, the date and time for the test, as per his/her convenience, while applying for the tests.

The advertisement calling for applications are normally released in December.

The score is made available to the candidate on the screen immediately after the test and thus is designed to be transparent.

The test will have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency and Logical reasoning parts and is of 3 hours duration.

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions) and based on NCERT syllabus.

The test is so designed that it doesn’t require the candidate to have any special computer skill.

A sample test is made available to the registered candidates at the BITS Website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

The questions are selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets, but of same difficulty level and content.

BITSAT uses latest technologies for security and test delivery. The architecture uses high end servers, Microsoft software platform, firewalls and Virtual private networks.
