Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) invites application for admission to the following programmes:

M.Sc.(Economics): This is a two year programme commencing August 2006. Eligibility: Minimum Qualification: B.A/B.Sc in Economics/B.Com /B.Stat/B.Sc(Physics or Mathematics)/B.Tech./B.E with at least a second division for Economics discipline and first division for other discipline. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the higher secondary level.

M.Phil./Ph.D.( Development Studies): These are interdisciplinary programmes commencingAugust 2006. The duration of M.Phil programme is two years and that of Ph.D programmme is four years.

Eligibility: minimum Qualification: M.A/M.Sc in Economics/ M.stat./ M.Sc (Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences or Operation Research)/ M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E./B.Tech./B.E with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% marks for other discipline. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level.

Stipend: M.Phil./Ph.D. students receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 8000/- in the first two years. Those students who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration would receive a monthly stipend pf Rs. 9000/- after Ph.D registration in the third year.

Selection Procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in a written test and an interview. The written test emphasizes general aptitude, analytical ability and Mathematical skills. The test will be held on May 07, 2006 at the following centres: Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Bangalore, Bhopal, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram. The test venue will be notified in the call letter. Based on the performance in the written test, short listed candidates will be called for an interview at IGIDR around the first week of July 2006. Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed. The decision of the selection committee will be final.

Uttar Pradesh Technical University , Lucknow will be conducting State Entrance Examination (SEE) on 22 nd and 23 rd April, 2006 for admission to degree courses in Engineering/ Pharmacy / Architecture / Hotel Management and Post Graduate Courses MCA/MBA of State Govt., Govt. aided and Private unaided institutions affiliated to U.P. Technical University along with some other Universities of Uttar Pradesh in academic session 2006-07.

Eligibility:
Candidates must have passed Intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University for admission to 1 st year of B.Tech./B.Pharm/ B.Arch. /B.H.M.C.T. as per subjects prescribed by UPSEE.

Candidates must have passed 3 year degree course with Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 level or at degree level for admission to 1 st year of M.C.A., and 3 year degree course in any discipline for admission to 1 st year of M.B.A.

The candidates must have passed Diploma Course recognized by the Board of Technical Education, U.P. with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate for admission to 2 nd year of B.Tech. / B.Pharma courses.

The candidates possessing three year Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central Govt./ State Govt. provided the candidates passed the Diploma Examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible for admission to First year of B.Arch. only.

The candidates appearing in qualifying examination are eligible to appear in SEE-2006 subject to the condition that they will fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of counselling.

BTM (Hons.): The admission to BTM (Hons) will be made on the basis of merit of candidate in written test, to be organized at specific locations. If need be, the candidates may also be subject to GD/ Personal Interview and admission in that case will be on the basis of combined score in written test, Group Discussion and Personal interview.

Candidates will be short-listed based on PCM and online test marks and will be called for interview/medical test at Tolani Maritime Institutes (TMI) campus in early July 2006.

For applications received between 6th March 2006 and 20th June 2006:Applicants will be short -listed on the basis of their PCM marks and called for an online test and interview/medical test to be conducted at TMI campus in early July 2006.M

Selections are based on candidates assessed potential to perform as sea fears. The decision of the Institute will be final and binding on the candidates.

Candidates who are appearing in BITSAT-2006 online test (entrance exams of BITS, Pilani) are exempted from appearing in the online test. BITSAT score will be considered in such cases.

Application Prospectus:
Step1: Fill in Application form and submit same online (Form available at the Institutes web site).
Step2: Print the form summary generated online and send it along with a non-refundable Crossed Demand draft of Rs.800/- drawn in favour of Tolani Maritime Institute payable at Pune or Induri to the address stated below. This includes cost of online test.

Alternatively, obtain the application form along with brochure/prospectus(virtually a hard copy of the information available in the website) by post from the institute on request by sending a crossed Demand draft Rs.300/- favouring Tolani Maritime Institute payable at Pune or Induri. Overseas requests must be accompanied by a Bankers Cheque of US$20 or equivalent. Send the filled in application form to the below mentioned address along with Demand as detailed in the prospectus.

Step3: Download admit card for online test from website:
For applications received before 5th March 2006: After 15th March 2006.
For application received after 5th March 2006: After 25th June 2006.
