Indian Institute Of Science Bangalore 560 012 IISc Young Engineering Fellowship Programme 2006

The IISc Young Engineering Fellowship Programme (YEFP) is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young engineering students through a goal-oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian institute of Science, Bangalore.

Candidates pursuing III year (5th Semester) of B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Sc. (Engg)/Integrated M.E./M.Tech. Programme with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations, papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained, are encouraged to apply.

COMEDK Admission Test

COMEDK Admission Test (PGET 2006) for Admission to PG Courses in Unaided Medical & Dental Colleges of Karnataka

Karnataka Private Medical and Dental College Association and Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering College Association have set up COMEDK to organize a Common Entrance Test, that would facilitate selection of candidates on merit for admission to postgraduate courses offered by Medical and Dental Colleges run by its members. COMEDK is only a testing agency and will conduct the test to asses the performance of candidates in the test and publish the merit list. The merit list will be made available to each of the Member Institutions to select and admit candidates from amongst those who apply and seek admissions to their institution. COMEDK is a testing body and does not make any seat allocation to member institutions.

¢ The Association has decided to organize centralized counseling as per the orders of the Honble Apex Court. The details of counseling will be notified on the website.

¢ Individual members institutions offering PG courses will make admissions by taking into account the performance in COMEDK PGET-2006.

Admission to Postgraduate Courses in Private, Unaided Medical & Dental College of Karnataka for the Academic Year 2006-2007 through COMEDK Postgraduates Entrance Test. (COMEDK PGET- 2006)

COMEDK invites applications for taking COMEDK PGET-2006 from eligible candidates intending to apply to member Institution seeking admissions to PG courses in Medical and Dental streams for the academic year 2006-2007. For relevant and important information about COMEDK PGET -2006 and list of COMEDK Member Institutions, kindly refer to the brochure or visit the website www.comedk.org

The fee structure of each Member Institution will be as notified by them.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
¢ Applicants should have successfully passed all years of their M.B.B.S / B.D.S from an institution recognized by MCI / DCI and must have completed/completing their internship by 30th April 2006.

Application Kits can be obtained by paying a Non-Refundable fee by Demand Draft for Rs 15007- (Rs. One Thousand Five Hundred Only), drawn in favour of COMEDK 2006, payable at Bangalore. Application Kits can be availed via the following means:

¢ By post / in person from COMEDK office.

Engineering/Medical/Architecture Entrance Examinations for admission to Professional Degree Courses 2006 will be held on the following dates.

Joint Admission Test To M.Sc. 2006

Jam2006 will be held on March 26, 2006 in 40 cities in the country.

Programmes:

Admission to two year M.Sc. programmes at all IITs, three year MCA & M.Tech.in Applied Geology /Applied Geophysics at IIT Roorkee and M.Sc.- ph. D. Dual Degree in Physics at IIt Bombay and IIt Kanpur for the academic session 2006-07 shall be made through JAM 2006.

Test Papers :

JAM 2006 will have eight Test Papers, namely : Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, MCA and Physics each of three hours duration. The Biotechnology and MCA Test Papers will be fully objective type while the other papers will be Objective-cum-Subjective type. A candidate can appear at the most in two test papers subject to the restrictions of Test schedule, with additional fee for the second Test Paper.

Eligibility For Admission:

A candidate is required to qualify in the corresponding Test Paper and must also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and eligibility requirements as specified by the admitting Institute. Reservation of seats for SC/ST and PH category candidates will be as per Gol rules. Candidates appearing in the final examination of the qualifying degree are also eligible o appear in AM 2006.

Application Forms & Informations Brochures:

It can be obtained on payment of application fee of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST candidates) during November 28, 2005 to January 6, 2006 from the desingned branches of Canara Bank in the country. The application material can also be obtained by Post from JAM Office, IIT Delhi, Hauz khas, New Delhi - 110016 by sending a request along with a self - addressed slip and a crossed Demand Draft of Rs.650/- (Rs. 350/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of Chairman JAM, IIT Delhi payable at New Delhi, which must reach, JAM Office, IIT Delhi latest by December 23, 2005.

Online Registration:

This facility shall be available from November 28, 2005 at the website http://jam.iitd.ac.in

GATE 2006 Admission Notice

Admission to Postgraduate Courses (Master’s and Doctoral) in the country, with MHRD and other Government Scholarsips / Assistantships, in Engineering / Technology / Artitecture / Pharmacy / Science is open to those who qualify in GATE.

Important Dates

20.09.2005 = Commencement of sale of information brochure and application forms/ Online submission of application forms

24.10.2005 = Last date of issue of information brochure and application forms by post from GATE offices

Eligibility: The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE 2006.

(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Artitecture / Pharmacy and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes;

(b) Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in teh final or pre-final year of such programmes;

(c) Candidates in the second or higher year of Four-year Integrate Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology or in the third year or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s Degree Programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering / Technology;

(d) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC / AICTE (e.g. AMIE) as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Those who completed Section A or equivalent of such professional course are also eligible.

There are two different processes by which a candidate can apply for GATE 2006, namely, “online” and “offline”. For general category candidates, the application fee is Rs. 900 for the online process and Rs. 1000 for the offline process. For SC/ST candidates, the fee is Rs. 400 for online and Rs. 500 for offline. The application fee is not refundable.

Online submission of application forms can be made by accessing the IIT and IISc CATE websites (gate.iisc.ernet.in; http://www.iitb.ac.in/gate; http://www.iitd.ac.in/gate; http://www.iitg.ac.in/gate; http://www.iitk.ac.in/gate; http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in; http://gate.iitm.ac.in; http://www.iitr.ernet.in/gate). The candidate should pay the Application Fee through an SBI ATM or through a Demand Draft in favour of ‘IIT Kharagpur’ on any nationalized bank payable at ‘Kharagpur’. The candidate should submit the payment details while filling up the Online Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the Online Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed form, with candidate’s signature and photograph at appropriate places, and the Demand Draft / original ATM transaction-slip must be sent ONLY to The Organising Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721302.

Offline process involves procuring the Information Brochure and Application Form on payment of cash from the designated Bank Branches. Candidates can also obtain the Information Brochure and Application Form by Post from / or personally at the GATE offices. For this purpose a Demand Draft is to be sent for the amount as above to the Chairman, GATE of the corresponding zone GATE office, along with a request letter and two self addressed slips. Filled in Application Form along with the bank pay-in-slip / receipt of payment from GATE office must be sent to the respective zonal GATE office depending on the examination city where the candidate wishes to appear.
