Union Public Service Commission - Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2006
The union public service commission will hold the Indian economic service/Indian statistical service examination commencing from 18th November 2006 for recruitment to grade IV of the Indian economic service and Indian statistical service. The examination will be held at various centers across the country.
Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding eligibility conditions, the syllabus and scheme of the examination, centers of examination, guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in the employment news/rozgar samachar dated 10th June 2006.
Conditions of Eligibility
Age Limits: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st Jan, 2006
The upper age limit is relaxable for scheduled castes/scheduled tribes/other backward classes/physically handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the notice.
Educational Qualification: A candidate for the Indian economic service must have obtained a Post-graduate degree in economics / applied economics/business economics/econometrics and a candidate for the Indian statistics service must have obtained a Post-graduate degree in statistics/mathematical statistics/applied statistics from a recognized University.
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the regulations given in Appendix-III of the rules for the Indian economic service/Indian statistical service examination, 2006 published in the gazette of India dated 10th June, 2006.
Application Form
The candidates must apply in the common application form devised by the commission for its examinations which can be purchased form the designated head offices/post offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/-. Each such form can be used only once and only one for examination.
Incase of any difficulty in obtaining applications form from the designated HPOs/Pos, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned postmaster or UPSCs Forms supply monitoring cell Over Telephone no.011-23387310.
Examination Fee
Rs.100/- to be paid through a single central recruitment fee stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of fees.
Address and last date for receipt of applications
All applications must reach the Secretary, Union public service commission, Dholpur house, Shahjahan road, New Delhi 110069 either by hand or by post /speed post or by courier, on or before the 10th July, 2006.
However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the notice published in the employment news dated 10.6.2006 the last date for receipt of applications by post /speed post only is 17th July, 2006.

In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their application, candidate etc. candidates can contact UPSCs facilitation counter near Gate C of its campus in person or over Phone no. 011 23385271/23381125 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs.
The commission also has a website at address: www.upsc.gov.in over which the candidates can obtain details of the examination as well as information about registration of their applications, venue of the examination and results etc.
