The SSR Medical College, Mauritius running its 8th Batch from more than 12 countries are enrolled at this Medical College having world class facilities, acclaimed by experts from U.K. as better than many Medical Colleges in U.K. & South Africa. Applications are invited for admission to the MBBS & BDS Courses commencing in Nov. 2006
The college is run by the IOMIT and is recognized by the Govt. of Mauritius. The clinical training is provided at the JLN & Victoria & other Regional Hospitals of the Govt. of Mauritius having more than 3000 beds covering all the super specialists. The associates of the institution are also in the process of setting up a 500 beds hospital in a cosmopolitan town in India for internship & P.G. Post Graduates Courses in selected specialists are proposed to begin from 2007.
The 2 passed out batches are undergoing internship in Mauritius & their respective countries. Internship options are also available at 700 beds hospital in Delhi.
The syllabus, based on the latest guidelines of the Medical Council of India, for the five years (3+3+4 semesters) Course and the Medical Council of Mauritius approves 1year internship. The College is recognized by the ECFMG (USA) for listing enables our students to take the PLAB & USML Step 1 and 2 in Mauritius itself, which has been declared a center for USMLE examinations. The international quality of training is ensured by the supervision of an International Advisory Committee (IAC) comprising of experts from U.K. South Africa, India and Mauritius
Of late, more and more countries including India, have introduced screening tests on the pattern of PLAB (U.K) And USMLE (USA) before allowing registration for medical practice. The recognition of the degree by MCI would be in accordance with the Medical Council of India letter no.203 .The Indian graduates of first 2 batches have posted 100% pass rate at the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examinations, Govt. of India, which entitles them to register Board of Examinations, Govt. of India, which entitles them to register with the MCI & Practice in India.
In pursuance of International standard, quality education from applicants having passed class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with minimum 60% marks in PCB and English and reached the age of 17 years on 31st Dec 06.
Admissions will be based on merit The applicants would be interviewed by the Admission Panel comprising of representatives from the University of Mauritius and the Ministry of Health, Govt. of Mauritius, headed by the chairman. Admissions are subject to admissibility of eligibility of the candidate by the University of Mauritius. Separate on-the campus accommodation is provided for boys and girls.
For MBBS Course Fee (5 years): US$ 26000/- minimum marks: 60%
For BDS Course Fee (4 years): US$ 12200/- minimum marks: 55%
Living Expenses: US$75/100 P.M.(approx) Prospectus & Application fee for US$20 (Rs.1000).
