Sambalpur University: PG Course in Sociology

Description: PG Course in Sociology [Regular and Self financing courses]

Eligibility: Honours in Arts/Science/Commerce OR Graduation (without Honours) in Arts/Science/ Commerce with 45% marks in aggregate.

Candidates, who have appeared the qualifying examinations and the results there of are awaited, are also eligible to apply. However, they have to submit the Provisional Certificate and Mark sheet of the qualifying examination within ten days after publication of result of Sambalpur University, or on any date during the Entrance Test schedule i.e. Dt.12.7.07 whichever is later; otherwise their cases for selection shall not be considered.

Procedure For Obtaining The Application Form: Admission forms can be obtained from The Administrative Officer, P.G. Central Office, Sambalpur University, P.O. : Jyoti-Vihar, Burla, Dis. Sambalpur (Orissa) PIN - 768019 during office hours on working days in person on payment of Rs. 150/- in cash at the Cash counter or by post on payment of Rs.225/- by crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of the Chairman, P.G. Council, Sambalpur University and payable at SBI, Jyoti-Vihar Branch (Code No. 6672) or U.Co Bank, Katapali Branch (Code No. 0710) along with an application on plain paper addressed to the Administrative Officer, P.G. Central Office, Sambalpur University. A self addressed envelope of size 13×8 is to be enclosed along with the application.

Indian Postal Order and Bank Draft Drawn On Any Other Bank Will Not Be Entertained.

Candidates can download the application form from the University website www.sambalpuruniversitypgc.in and while sending the application form a bank draft of Rs.375/- by crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of Chairman, PG Council, Sambalpur University and payable at SBI, Jyoti-Vihar Branch (Code No. 6672) or UCO Bank, Katapali Branch (Code No. 0710)should be enclosed.

First Transgenic Mulberry Plant Developed By Delhi University

INDIA HAS developed the first transgenic mulberry plant in the world with drought and salinity tolerance.The breakthrough was achieved in a laboratory in South Campus, Delhi University, where the transgenic plants are currently being tested for proper gene expression. According to sources in the department of biotechnology which funded the development of the mulberry plant with transgenic gene HVA-1, drought and salinity are the major problems facing mulberry crop primarily grown in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The breakthrough assumes great significance in the view that nearly 90 per cent of our silk is mulberry silk and sericulture is a major cottage industry earning foreign exchange worth about Rs.2,250 crore. This industry employs 60 lakh people.

Applications are invited for admission to M.B.A. (Hospital Administration) course offered by Department of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University in collaboration with Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre, Madurai for the academic year 2006-2007.

Eligibility: A pass in any degree candidates who have appeared for the final year UG degree exam during April/May 2006 can also apply. Candidates who have studied under 10 +2+3/4 pattern are only eligible for admission.
Entrance Test:

Applicants with Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)-2006 scores are eligible to apply

For those who do not possess TANCET-2006 scores a separate entrance examination would be conducted on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at designated centres.

Selection: Selection will be made based on the performance of candidates in the TANCET-2006 / Entrance Examination 2006 scores and Group Discussion & Interview by Madurai Kamaraj University.

How to apply: Application and Prospectus can be downloaded from the University website www.mkuniversity.org. Xerox copies of downloaded applications may also be used. Filled in application along with a demand draft of Rs.500/- drawn in favour of The Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, payable at Madurai should reach the undersigned on or before August 07, 2006. An attested copy of the TANCET-2006 mark statement should be submitted along with the application. The applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected. Application is free of cost for SC/ST candidates.

Note: Candidates experiencing problems in downloading the application form, can request for a copy of the prospectus and application form from the Head of the Department, Department of Management Studies, Madurai Kamaraj University by producing a demand draft in favour of the Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University / SBI A/c No.1 Chalan for Rs.35/- (in person) or Rs.50/- (by post) along with the requisition letter.
