M.B.B.S Admission 2007

Applications are invited in the prescribed from supplied by this Institute or Online only from Resident Indian Nationals and who have studies in schools located in India in the preceding two (2) years for admission to First M.B.B.S. Course for the Session 2007-08, commencing from August 2007.

Candidates fulfilling the following conditions only need to apply.

Age: Should complete the age of 17 Years on or before 31st December 2007 (i.e.) they should have been born on or before 1st January, 1991.

Qualification: Should have passed or currently appearing for Higher Secondary Certificate Examination under 10+2+3 pattern with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English as subjects of study or equivalent examination subject to recognition by the Pondicherry University and must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained not less than 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Botany & Zoology for general candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST candidates.

Requisition for supply of application form and prospectus by post should reach the Registrar (Academic) Jipmer, Puducherry 605 006 on or before 14th March, 2007 alongwith a Crossed Demand Draft, drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, Jipmer, payable at Puducherry (Pondicheery 605 006) and self addressed stamped envelope for Rs.50/- & of size 26cms 32cms. or larger size (to send the prospectus with application to the candidates). The Bank draft should be Rs.350/- for General candidates and Rs.250/- for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates.

Candidates can also download the prospectus and application through Website www.jipmer.edu and submit the application Online. However, they should take a print out in A4 Size Paper and affix the Photograph and sign the application and send the same along with the Demand Draft (Rs.350/- for General Candidates and Rs.250/- for SC/ST Candidates drawn in favour of the Accounts Officer, Jipmer, Puducherry-6 (Pondicherry 605 006). The D.D. should be drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Puducherry (Pondicherry 605 006) and attested copy of Community Certificate in case of SC/ST candidates and Medical Certificate in case of Physically Handicapped candidates (if applicable) so as to reach this office on or before 28th March 2007 (4.30 PM) (Wednesday).

Please ensure that the Bank Draft bears the code No. of the issuing branch, and Drawee branch and date of issue as well as signatures of the bank officials and the amount written both in figures and words. Prospectus will not be sent if Demand Draft is not acceptable to the Bankers here.

For supply of Prospectus and application form, Cheque / Postal Order / Money Order will not be accepted. This Institute will not be responsible for any Postal delay in receipt of Prospectus by the candidates and further correspondence, if any will not be entertained. Candidates are advised to send their requisition in advance before the due date.

Applications purchased under SC/ST quota cannot be used by the general candidates.

Prospectus and application form can also be obtained in person at the Bank of Baroda, Extension Counter, Jipmer, Puducherry 6 on payment of Rs.350/- (in respect of general candidates) and Rs.250/- (in respect of SC/ST candidates) in cash during office (Bank) hours till 28th March, 2007 (Wednesday) on all working days between 9.30 AM to 3.00 PM (On Saturday between 9.30 am to 12.00 pm)

The Last Date for receipt of filled in applications from the candidates is 28th March, 2007 (Wednesday)

Applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted on Sunday the 27th May, 2007 from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the following centres viz-(1) Puducherry, (2) Chennai, (3) Hyderabad, (4) Delhi, (5) Kolkata and (6) Thiruvananthapuram. Category A Admission through Entrance Examination

Category B Direct Admissions to Ph.D.

Programme: The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme on the basis of their performance in viva voce examination (without Entrance Examination) both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in the above Fields of Study (except Life Sciences), In addition, Group of Political Theory and Comparative Politics (International Relations) also offers Direct admission to Ph.D. programmes.

Category C- JRF Holders: The University also admits a limited number of candidates to M.Phil / Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D. / Ph.D programmes who qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer & Systems Sciences, Information Technology & Centres for Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine without appearing in the Entrance Examination.

Foreign Nationals: All foreign Nationals present in India are required to appear in the Entrance Examination at any one of the Centres of entrance examination and they will be competing among themselves.

Reservation of Seats: 15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST for ST and 3% seats for PH (Physically Challenged / Handicapped) with a minimum of 40% disability) are reserved for candidates belonging to these categories. The Government of India has proposed to reserve seats for candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) starting from academic year 2007-08. The same would be implemented as and when the Government order for the same would be implemented as and when the Government order for the same is received and approved by the Academic Council. In such a situation, University reserves the right to withdraw or modify the provision of deprivation points as per the approval of the Academic Council of the University.

On behalf of the participating universities, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination on Friday the 18 May 2007. for admission to (1) M.Sc. Eligibility:

(i) For Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar: Bachelors degree in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) recognized by Veterinary Council of India with at least 50% marks or 5.00 / 10.00 OGP or equivalent grades from a recognized university; (ii) for Ch. Sarwan Kumar HP Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Palampur: Bachelors degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Forestry with a minimum OGPA of 2.70/4.00 or 6.00 / 10.00 or its equivalent from a recognized University or a degree from a foreign University recognized as equivalent for the purpose (with at least B grade or its equivalent; (iii) for G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pangnagar: Bachelors degree under 10+2+4 /5 pattern of education in Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Horticulture, or Forestry with at least 55% marks from a recognized University & Students with Bachelors degree in Science with either ZBC or PCM groups are eligible to take admission after qualifying the entrance examination. Remedial courses are mandatory which may extend the degree (iv) For Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur Bachelors degree under 10+2+4/5 pattern of education in Agriculture, Veterinary, Diary Technology, Horticulture, Forestry with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University (v) For Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur: Bachelors degree in B.V.Sc & AH from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or 5.5 OGPA I 10 point scale or 2.5 OCGA in 4 point scale. (vi) for Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur: Bachelors degree under 10+2+4 pattern of education in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade from a recognized University; (vii) for Marathwada Agricultural University, Thirussur: Bachelors degree under 10+2+4 pattern of education in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade from a recognized University; (viii) for Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar: Bachelors degree under 10+2+4 pattern of education in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade point average of 6.5 in 10 point scale OR 3.0 in 4 point scale from any recognized University; (ix) For Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, Bachelors degree under 10+2+4 pattern of education in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Forestry or Agricultural Engineering, with at least 70% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University; and (x) for University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad: Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or Forestry from a recognized Agriculture University. CGPA not less than 2.25/- 4.00 or 6.50 / 10.00 or its equivalent. For SC / ST candidates, mere pass is enough.

3. M.Tech (Biotechnology) Programme At (1) Anna University, Chennai: & (2) West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), Kolkata;

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one; B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering / Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Pharma, Chemical Technology, OR M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Science, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Micro Genetics and Bioinformatics (Also B.Tech / B.E. in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and M.Sc. in Chemistry & Physics in case of Anna University and M.Sc in Bioengineering in case of WBUT)

Tuition Fee / Scholarship:

Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of concerned University. Candidates selected for admission to those of the participating Universities, which are supported by the Department of Biotechnology (Govt. of India), are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology. Candidates may please note that the M.Sc. Biotechnology programme being offered at Punjabi University, Patialla and Thapar Institute of Engg and Technology Patiala, is currently not being financially supported by the Department of Biotechnology. Therefore, the award of scholarships, if any, shall be governed by the ruled prevailing in these Universities. Students admitted to Gulbarga University will not get any scholarship.

Reservation / Concession

A) Reservation: 15%, 7½ and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC / ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination.
b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he / she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he / she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with her/his inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his / her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his / her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidates Kashmiri Migrant status.

Procedure For Getting The Form:

In Person: Application form along with brochure can be obtained personally on cash payment of Rs.120/- per set from any of the participating University as shown above. By post: Those willing to get the Application Form by post should sent their request only to the Deputy Registrar (CEEB), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi 110067, along with a valid bank draft of Rs.180/- (for one set of application form). The bank draft should be payable to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 28 x 20 cms. Selection Procedure

(a) Shortlisted candidates will be called for selection test / interview at Mumbai / Chennai / Kolkata and New Delhi. Candidates attainments in Academics, Sports and NCC will be given due weightage whilst shortlisting the candidates. The date of entrance test will be intimated to the short-listed candidates through call up letters by Feb. 2007. Candidates who do not receive call up letter may assume that they have not come in the zone of shortlisting

(b) The selection process consists of two phases:
Preliminary Selection Boards (PSB) are conducted at Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata. It consist of General Mental Ability Test in which the candidates will be tested for General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning. PSB center for candidates for candidates applying for GD (Pilot) will be restricted to Delhi / Noida and Chennai only.

Final Selection Board (FSB) at Cost Guard Selection Board (CGSB) Noida (U.P.). It consists of Psychological Test, Group Testing and Interview (Personality Test)

(c) Selection will be made only on the basis of performance of the candidates in FSB. Those found medically fit will be placed in the merit list. The candidates who qualify in the merit list vis-à-vis number of vacancies available will be issued with appointment letter called to CGSB NOIDA for two weeks Pre-Navac-Orientation Training Programme (P-Not-P) and thereafter sent to Naval Academy INS Mandovi to undergo basis training. Basic training with the Indian Navy.

(d) Medical examination will be held at Delhi.

How to apply: Application on plain paper in the form appended below (type written in English/ Hindi) is to be sent so as to reach on or before 29 Jan 2007 to The Director (MPRT), Post Box No.127, Noida (U.P.) 201301. Under Postal Certificate (UPC) only. Registered letters & Speed Post will not be accepted. Central / State Govt. employees should apply through proper channel. Attested copies of certificate of age, caste of the candidate, educational qualification including statement of marks, NCC, Sports and self addressed unstamped envelope of size 25 x 10 cm are to be attached with the application.

School of Medical Science and Technology

Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) is a unique 3-year programme for MBBS graduates (degree recognized by Medical Council of India), with aptitude for technological applications in medical science. All the candidates admitted to the programme are offered an assistantship of Rs.10, 000 p.m. Seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates and persons with disability as per Government of India rules. Reservation for OBC candidates would be implemented as and when government orders for the same are issued. MMST 2007 application can be submitted only by an online process (internet based) by accessing the website http://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/mmst during 23 Jan-22 Feb, 2007. The candidate should first pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs.1000 (Rs.500 for SC/ST category) by obtaining a demand draft in favour of IIT Kharagpur payable at any nationalized bank in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The draft details are required while filling up the Online Form. Candidates are required to take a print of the Online Application Form after successful submission of data. The printed form with candidates signature and photograph and the Demand Draft must be sent by Speed Post so as to reach The Chairman, Gate, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721 302 by February 26, 2007.

MMST Admission Test: April 15, 2007 (Sunday) 10.00 am to 12.00 noon

The Entrance Examination for admission to Professional Degree Courses for the Academic year 2007-2008 will be conducted from April 23rd to 27th, 2007 as per the schedule detailed below at selected centers.

Admission to MBBS Course 2007

Applications are invited for admission to the MBBS course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, commencing from 01 Aug 2007. Total 130 candidates (including maximum of 25 girls) will be selected. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to Armed Forces Medical College, Pune have compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit cum option at he final MBBS examination. The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve the Armed Forces Medical Services would be seven (7) years. All candidates admitted to the college are required to execute a bond to this effect for an amount of Rs. 15 lacs (Rupees Fifteen lacs) at the time of joining the college. Students removed from service liability due to any reason will have to pay the bond money as per conditions laid down by Govt. of India.

Ten seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidate who also similar service liability and have to fulfill the requirements of medical fitness, age, educational qualification and qualifying the entrance examination as per details given in the prospectus.

Special Concessions: The Govt. will provide free accommodation and entitled rations, subsidized messing, AC 3 Tier freer railway warrant from college to home and back during vacations, a book subsidy of Rs. 12,000/- during entire training period, uniform allowance of Rs. 6,000/- per student during first year and Rs. 1250/- per year as maintenance allowance in subsequent years and any other misc. allowance as applicable.

All candidates should be medically fit as per laid down standards for the Armed Forces.

Only married candidates are eligible. Marriage during the course is not permitted. The college is fully residential both for boys and girls.

Educational Qualification: Applicants must have passed XII standard/ pre - professional / premedical examination or equivalent examination of statutory Indian University / Board or any other recognized Board/ University as a regular student in all the subjects opted fro in FIRST ATTEMPT with the subject of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology securing not less than 60% of aggregate marks in the three science subjects taken together not less than 50% marks in each of the science subjects and not less than 50% marks in English. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics at least of the matriculation standard. A graduate of B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (botany or Zoology) and also must have passed the earlier qualifying examination i.e. XII standard / Pre professional (Med) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained marks as stated above. NOTE (a) Candidates who are to appear in the qualifying examination (10 + 2) or equivalent) upto 05 May 2007 may also appear for the test provisionally. (b) The following categories of students are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply: - (i) Candidates who have passed in Domestics Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Maths separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science, Social studies in High School/ Higher Secondary (Multi Purpose) or equivalent examination (ii) Candidates who have passed only Pre University/ Pre Degree (one year course) or Pre Professional in Agriculture/ Veterinary / Dental Examination (iii) Candidates who have passed the Pre Professional or equivalent qualifying examination as private candidates.

Age Limt: Must have attained the age of 17 years on 31 December 2007 but must NOT have attained the age of 22 years on the date i.e. not born earlier that 01 January 1986 and not later than 31 December 1990, if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10 + 2 or equivalent. A candidate who has passed B.Sc. examination or will be appearing in final B.Sc. examination and seeks admission must not have attained the age of 24 years on 31 December 2007 i.e. must have been born not earlier than 01 January 1984.

Method of Selection: Candidates will be required to appear in the competitive written test of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Intelligence, Reasoning and English Languages comprehension on 06 May 2007. It will be held at the following centers in India.

Candidates selected in the written test, will be called for interview at PUNE in the month of June 2007. No TA/DA would be admissible to the candidates wither for written test, interview or at the time of reporting for admission.

Prospectus and application forms can also be obtained by post from Officer in Charge Admission Cell), Armed Forces Medical College, Pune 511 040 on payment of Rs. 250/- per copy, only by Bank Draft on any nationalized bank payable at Pune in favour of Commandant, AFMC, Pune, along with full address of the candidate on two separate slips of paper (size 9 cms x 5 cms). Please ensure that the Demand Draft bears the code number of they issuing bank.

The candidate must write his/her name & address on the back side of the Demand Draft. The candidate should enclose an application fro obtaining prospectus and application from giving his/ her particulars and address and enclose a self addressed envelope of 11 x 13 size and affix postage stamp of Rs. 55/- Bank Drafts on any other banks other than nationalized banks, Money Orders, Cash or Postal Orders will not be accepted. Each request should be accompanied by a separate demand draft. Combined demand draft for more than one application will not be accepted. Request for prospectus to be sent by post will be accepted from 03 January 2007 to 30 January 2007 upto 4 pm.

Completed Forms Must Reach the Officer In Charge (Admissions Cell), Armed Forces Medical College, Pune 411 040 BY 4 PM ON 16 February 2007.

Disputes, if any, will fall within the jurisdiction of Pune (Maharashtra) only. AFMC will not be responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit.
