By hand for Rs. 600/- (Rs. Six Hundred only) between 10.00 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. on all working days upto 10.01.2007. No cash payment.

By post for Rs. 650/- (Rs. Six Hundred and Fifty only) along with a self addresses envelope of 10 x 8 upto 05.01.2007.
Note:

Ph. D Programme

National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for its Ph. D programme. Cutting-edge research at the Institute encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas:-

1) Chemical Biology

2) Genetics & Cell Signaling

3) Immunity & Infection

4) Molecular & Cellular Biology

5) Reproduction & Development

6) Structural & Computational Biology.

Minimum qualification:

A. M. Sc in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or M. Tech, or M.B.B.S or M.V.Sc or M.Pharm, or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required.

B. First Division, or equivalent grade, or at least 60% of aggregate scores in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards is required.

C. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally

D. Reservations are as per statutory norms.

Selection procedure:

A. Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test at their own expenses on February 10, 2007 at either of the following four centres Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata & Pune. The Institute shall try to accommodate the choice of centres indicated by the candidate, the candidate shall be required to appear for the written qualifying test at the centre allotted by the Institute.

B. The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend, analyze and reason. Therefore, the examination is General/Aptitude Test & no separate syllabus is prescribed.

C. The results of the written test along with the details of the interviews shall be available on the website of the Institute as well as on the Notice Board of the Institute on February 16, 2007.

D. Interviews will be held at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 1-4-2007. The interviews will be held in two stages. The candidates will be short listed for the final interview based on their performance in the first interview. Final interview will be held in the last two days.

E. All candidates invited for interviews would be paid a return second class train fare on providing the proof of journey.

F. Candidates selected after the interviews will be enrolled for the Ph. D programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi.

Ph. D. Programme:

A. The programme will start on 2nd July, 2007.

B. The Institute will provide a Fellowship stipend of Rs.8000/- Rs.9500 per month depending on the degree qualifications.

C. Shared hostel accommodation will be available on request. Application procedure:

Instructions

A. Applications should be Typed/hand written in capital letters on A4-size plain paper in the format given below.

B. Items 3 and 6 in the format should be typed as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

C. Each page of the typed application form should be signed by the candidate.

D. Completed applications must be accompanied with the crossed Demand Draft for Rs.100/- of six months validity in favor of Director, National Institute of Immunology, payable at New Delhi. A Demand Draft for Rs.50/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidates, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The drafts are not refundable.

E. Applications should be accompanied by attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained.

F. Two recent passport size photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.

G. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.5/-) envelopes of 10 cm 22 cm. Should also be enclosed.

H. Applications and Demand Drafts should be sent to Manager (A&E), National Institute of Immunology, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi 110067 so as to reach on or before January 2, 2007, Application for Ph.D. Admission 2007 should be mentioned on the envelop.

1.Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected & no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delays. The decision of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

The Institute of Medical Sciences under Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi 221 005, has invited applications for an all-India level entrance test for admission to its MBBS course.

Two stages

The test will have two stages First stage PMT-Screening-2007, is scheduled for 9th May 2007 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad centres to screen students for eligibility to take PMT-Main-2007 to be held on 17th June 2007 at Varanasi Centre only.

Those who have passed intermediate / 10 +2 / equivalent examination with minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology & Botany) taken together can apply.

Students appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply.

Candidates should have completed 17 years and not crossed 25 as on 31st December 2007.

The sale of application forms will start from 1st January 2007 and will be closed on 28th February 2007. Objective: University of Pune (UoP) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, will conduct the Bioinformatics National certification (BINC) examination. The objective of this examination is to identify bioinformatics professionals. This will help potential employers in recruitment of exceptional candidates.

Eligibility: Any graduate in science, agriculture, veterinary, medicine, pharmacy, engineering and technology are eligible to appear in the examination. They need not have any formal training, diploma, or certificate in bioinformatics.

Application and Syllabus: The online application can be filled from 10th November 2006 to 30th January 2007. National advisory committee approved syllabus is available online. It consists of four sections: biology, physical and chemical sciences, IT, and bioinformatics.

Examination: The examination fee is Rs. 600/- for general and Rs. 450/- for reserved category 9 as per government of India rule) and is scheduled on 24 25 February 2007. The paper I will be objective type. The paper II will be short answer type, while the paper III will be a computer based practical. This year a cash prize will be awarded to the top 5 bioinformatics.

A computer based online test for admission to Integrated first degree programmes; 1 Semester 2007 08

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Bits) Pilani is a University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide notification No.F.12-23/63, U-2, dated 18th June, 1964 of the Govt. of India. It is an all-India Institute for higher education for men and women, fully residential, and awards its own degrees. Admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of Bits, Pilani, at Pilani campus and Goa Campus, for the academic year 2007-08 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by Bits, Pilani. The test will be called Bits Admission Test-2007, in short as Bitsat 2007.

BITSAT: Salient Features

The candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the monitor and the candidate submits his answers through the use of key board or mouse.

The computer is connected to the server, which delivers the test, in real time through a reliable connectivity.
The online tests are conducted at several centers in India, during May-June every year

Candidate can choose the center, the date and time for the test, as per his/her convenience, while applying for the tests.

The advertisement calling for applications are normally released in December.

The score is made available to the candidate on the screen immediately after the test and thus is designed to be transparent.

The test will have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Proficiency and Logical reasoning parts and is of 3 hours duration.

All questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions) and based on NCERT syllabus.

The test is so designed that it doesn’t require the candidate to have any special computer skill.

A sample test is made available to the registered candidates at the BITS Website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

The questions are selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets, but of same difficulty level and content.

BITSAT uses latest technologies for security and test delivery. The architecture uses high end servers, Microsoft software platform, firewalls and Virtual private networks.
