Indira Gandhi National Open University announces the following Course/Programme in B.Sc (Nautical Science).
Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc (Nautical Science) in collaboration with the Directorate General ofshipping(DGS), Mumbai is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented training programme, which includes the combination of strong underpinning knowledge of marine subjects, practical applications theory and correct attitude.

Session Commences: 1st August 2006
Eligibility for B.Sc (Nautical Science):
10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with not less than 55% marks in PCM.(or) Those appearingin 10+2 with PCM, subject to the condition of producing passing certificate of a recognizedBoard with not less than 55% marks in PCM by 30th June 2006 (or) with Physics as an individual subject in one of the years B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Electronicswith not less than 55% in the final year. (or) B.E/B.Tech Degree from IIT (or) from a college recognized by AICTE/UGC/DEC.
should have passed with not less than 50% marks in English Language as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard (or) in the Degree course, on conducted by a Board any University.
Age Limit: (as on 1st August, 2006)
Not more than 20 years in case of 10+2 pass.
Not more than 22 years in case of B.Sc Degree
Not more than 24 years in case of B.E/B.Tech
The age limit is relaxable by 2 years in case of female candidates.
Physical Standards:
Medically fit as per the standards set by M.S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.
Eyesight: 6/6 in each eye without visual aids normal colour vision. Candidates have to undergo a full eyesight test and produce a certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner at the time of interview.
Selection Procedure:
Candidates will be selected on the basis of an Entrance test followed by an interview. The Entrance test will be held on 18th June 2006. For further details please refer prospectus.

The course programme will be offered through the selected training institute approved by DGS and IGNOU and whose details are available n the prospectus.
Theprospectus & application form for the Course/Programme can be obtained from IGNOU headquarters or any of its Regional Centres/Training institutes on weekdays during working hours on payment or Rs.50/- in cash.
If the application form is to be obtained by post , a request along with DDof Rs.100/- in favour ofIGNOU payable at Delhi, should be sent to the Programme Coordinator (IGNOU DGC project), SOET, IGNOU, Maiden Garhi, New Delhi-110 068, so as to reach there by 1st May 2006. The Prospectus will be available from 18th April 2006.

Thefilledin application form alongwiththe requisite fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.550 in case of downloaded form) in the form of DD in favour of IGNOU payable at Delhi, should reach “The Registrar (SRED), IGNOU, New Delhi-110 068 ” on or before the last date. Forms will also be available at the training institute approved for this programme.
