Joint Entrance Test (JET)-2006 & Admission to LL.B Degree Course

Applications are invited from the candidates seeking admission to the first year of the LL.B degree course offered by Dr.Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry for the academic year 2006-2007. Candidates shall appear in the Joint Entrance Test-2006 (JET-2006) which is to be conducted on 26th May 2006. JET 2006 will be conducted in various centers in Pondicherry, Karaikal. Mahe & Yanam.

Candidates who have passed HSC or equivalent qualifying examination and those who are appearing in such qualifying examination in March/April 2006 are eligible to appear in JET-2006, but their admission to the degree course will be subject to passing the qualifying examination with minimum marks given below.

Out of the 80 seats of sanctioned intake, 72 seats will be allotted to the candidates from Pondicherry UT and 6 seats will be and 6 seats will be allotted to the candidates without any reference to the nativity/residence. In case enough number of qualified candidates from U.T of Pondicherry are not available for admission, candidates without any reference to the nativity/residence may be considered to those vacant seats also.

Admission Qualification:

A pass in Higher Secondary (Academic /Vocational) or equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% of the aggregate marks (a mere pass for SC/ST candidates).

Age limit:

The upper age limit is 21 years (relaxable up to 3 years for SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates). The age will be reckoned as on 1st July 2006.

Admission:

Merit list for admission to LL.B degree course shall be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and in the JET-2006, giving equal weightage to both.

Application procedure for Joint Test and Admission:

Candidates who are required to appear in Jet 2006 for seeking admission to the LL.B degree courses under CENTAC shall apply in the prescribed application forms.

Necessary application forms for JET 2006 and another for admission along with the Information Bulletin can be obtained on or after 10th April 2006 in person from the following post office on all working days on payment of Rs.115/- (Rs.100/- towards the cost of application and Rs.15/- for service charges) and Rs.40/- for SC/St candidates.

Application for can also be obtained by post by sending a request along with two self-addressed slips and a crossed DD for Rs.165/- and Rs.90/- for SC/ST candidates, to The Convenor, CENTAC, Pondicherry Engineering College Campus , Pondicherry-605 014. The DD should be drawn in favour of The Convenor, CENTAC payable at Pondicherry. Payment by cheque, Money orders and Postal orders will not be accepted.

Admission for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) 5 year Integrated course:

National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was established by Govt. of Kerala as per the Act 27/2005 passed by the Kerala State Legislative by merging the erstwhile National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) in the University. The University now functions at a spacious campus at Kaloor in the heart of Ernakulam. The Government of Kerala has allotted 10 Acres of land for the development of the campus. At present NUALS offers 5 year integrated B.A.LL.B (Hons) course. Applications are invited for 2006 Admission to this course.

Eligibility for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.):

Pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Kerala or any other examination recognized by the Universities in Kerala as equivalent there to with not less than 50% of the aggregate marks and 50% of marks in the Entrance Exam held by the University. Scheduled Caste / Tribe candidates are eligible for relaxation of 5%. Candidates who have appeared and awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

Course Fee:

Rs.20,000/- per semester and a Miscellaneous fee of Rs.5000/- per year and the Caution Deposit of Rs.1000/- and Other fees.

How To Apply:

Prospectus and application form can be had from the office of the University directly on payment of Rs.750/- by way of D/D drawn on any scheduled banking in favor of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, payable at Ernakulam. For application belonging to SC/ST the cost of prospectus and application will be Rs.375/-. Application can be also be had by post on request by sending D.D for Rs.800/- for general candidates and Rs.425/- for SC/ST candidates. Community certificates shall have to be produced for getting the application at the confessional rate. Completed application should reach NUALS office on or before 13-05-2006, 05.00 p.m.

Five seats are reserved for candidate from Outside the Kerala State. 10% of the seats are reserved for SC/ST candidate and 10% seats are reserved for Other Backward Communities belonging to the Kerala State.

Entrance Test: The entrance test will be conducted at Thiruvanathapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore on 27/05/2006. For further details refer the website or consult the Prospectus.
