Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA 2006)

Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA) 2006 will be administered by the Anna University on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu for candidates who seek admission for M.E / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.PIan (Master of Planning). Degree Programmes in Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu during 2006-2007.

Applications are invited for the Single Window System Admissions to M.E / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.PIan. Degree Programmes in Anna University, Government, Government Aided and the seats Surrendered by the Self-Financing Colleges, Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (Bharathidasan University), CECRI (Central Electro Chemical Research Institute) Karaikudi, CIPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & technology) Chennai for admission to M.E / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.PIan. Degree Courses.

Candidates appearing for final year/semester examination of the said qualifying degree course in April / May 2006 may also apply and they must be able to produce Degree certificate / Consolidated Mark sheet / Provisional Certificate on or before 02.09.06 without fail and the candidates must have valid GATE 2006 score ( or ) must appeared for TANCET-2006

How to apply:
Application Form: Candidates have to file only one application.

IN PERSON: Application forms can be obtained IN PERSON by paying in the form of Demand Draft drawn for Rs.300/-(Rs.150/- for Tamil Nadu SC/ST Candidates) from the Secretary TANCA 2006, Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai - 25 from 24.05.2006.

BY POST: Application form can also be obtained BY POS1 from the Secretary TANCA, 2006, Examination Centre Anna University, Chennai - 600 025 through Demand Draft foi Rs.330/- (Application Fee) (Rs.180/- for Tamil Nadu SC/S1 Candidates), with a requisition letter and self addressed slip sending the application, which includes postal expenses. Counselling date will be intimated to individuals through a call letter & Website by the Secretary TANCA, Anna University, Chennai - 25 All Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of “The Director (Admissions), Anna University”, payable at Chennai.

3. The completed applications should reach the Secretary TANCA 2006, Examination Centre, Anna University, Chennai 600 025 on or before 24.06.2006, 5.30 p.m.

Note: Women candidates with B.E. in Civil Engg. / Geo Informatics/Agricultural Engg. having working experience in water sector are eligible for M.E. Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) with fellowship of Rs.5000/- per Month (for which TANCET is not required). Separate application has to be filled.

Free Model AIEEE Planned

AIMS Education and The Hindu Education Plus are organising a free model All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) at six centres in the Chennai on January 29.

The three-hour-long examinations will be held at Adyar, Anna Nagar, Mylapore, Kilpauk, Tambaram and Virugambakkam between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A special feature is the discussion session to be held at Vani Mahal on G.N. Chetty Road on February 12 between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. The session would have experts discussing answers to difficult questions, useful short cuts, techniques of answering tricky questions and time management. The results of the model examination would be announced and those with high marks honoured the same day.

AIEEE enables candidates to get admission into any of the prestigious 18 national institutes of technology and deemed universities all over the country. AIEEE, introduced in 2002, consists of two papers. Paper 1 is relevant for engineering/technology and paper 2 for architecture/planning.

Every year, more than 12,000 candidates from Tamil Nadu appear for the examination. This year, the number is tipped to cross 30,000. Candidates, even the Tamil Nadu State Board students, can perform well if they follow the changes in the examination pattern as well as concentrate on the relevant subjects.

CBSE Unveils Scholarship For 500 Medical, Engineering Students

If you are a first-year student in an undergraduate medical or engineering degree course after having appeared in the CBSE pre-medical test or the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), heres some good news coming your way. CBSE will give out monthly scholarships worth Rs 1,000 to 350 medical students and 150 engineering students who cleared the entrance examinations in 2005. And in continuation of the boards newfound zeal towards the single girl child, 5% of the total numbers of scholarships under both heads have been reserved for the single girl child. To be eligible for the scholarship scheme, the students should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the 2005 Class XII board examination and should be pursuing the professional course in a central or state university or in any university recognised by the University Grants Commission. In addition, the students rank in the AIPMT should not be more than 2,933 and it should not be more than 33,447 in case the candidate had appeared for the AIEEE. The board had sent offer letters to eligible candidates and a list is also available on www.cbse.nic.in. The last date for receiving the duly- filled letters of acceptance is January 7, 2006.

DCE and NSIT (Univ of Delhi) Admission Notification

In continuation of Notification appearing in leading Newspapers on 13.11.2005 announcing the date of CEE-2006 as Tuesday, the 30th May, 2006 for admission to 1st year of Bachelor of Engineering Courses in DCE and NSIT for the session 2006-07, it is notified for the information of all concerned that the admission to 15% seats reserved for the candidates from Outside Delhi Region (Outside National Capital Territory of Delhi) in DCE and NSIT, shall be made on the basis of All India Merit Rank in AIEEE-2006 to be conducted by CBSE. All the candidates belonging to Outside Delhi Region (Outside National Capital Territory of Delhi) are advised to appear in AIEEE-2006 as per schedule already notified by CBSE. The CEE-2006 shall be conducted on the date already notified for filling up of 85% seats reserved for Delhi Region Candidates only. The criterion for deciding the eligibility of an applicant to a seat reserved for any Region is the location of the School/College/institution from which the candidate has passed the Qualifying Examination on the basis of which he/she is seeking admission. The detailed notification for issue of Bulletin of Information etc., will be issued in leading newspapers sometime in the last week of January, 2006. No further correspondence for sale of Bulletin of Information etc., will be entertained till the notification for the same is issued by the University Of Delhi.

CBSE Announces Two Merit-Based Scholarships

The CBSE has started two merit-based scholarships for professional studies (medical and engineering) and another for undergraduate studies (non-medical and non-engineering). These scholarships are self-selective. Meritorious students of the AIPMT/AIEEE and Class XII public examinations, conducted by the board 2005 onwards, will be automatically considered. They would be valid for any other scholarship or benefit as well. A total of 500 scholarships a year (2,000 annually after four years), each worth Rs 1,000 per month, would be awarded for four years to those pursuing medical/engineering courses in the institutes participating in the CBS-conducted AIPMT/AIEE examinations or the Union government-controlled/aided institutes. In addition, 550 scholarships a year (1,650 annually after three years), each worth Rs 500 per month, would be awarded to candidates pursuing non-medical and non-engineering courses.

Eligible candidates are advised to report for counselling on 17th August 05 at 10 am with original documents and admission fee of Rs. 21,000.00 (Rupees twenty one thousand only). They should come prepared for attending classes and stay in the hostels. Classes have already commenced from 25′h July 05.
