Eligibility

M.Phil Programme in Applied Economics of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU): Masters in Economics, 50% marks or other Social Sciences / Humanities: ? 55% or Sciences/ Technology / Life Sciences: ? 60% Ph.D. Programme in Economics or JNU or University or Kerala (KU): M.Phil with FGPA of 6 and Masters in Economics with ? 50% marks or M.Phil requirement can be walved in exceptional cases with research experience of at least 2 years in a university / research institution and publications.

Those awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also apply.
SC/ST/PH candidates are eligible irrespective of percentage of marks
Selection based on Academic Record, Research Proposal and Interview
Statutory reservation for SC/ST/Ph (? 40% disability) candidates

Financial Support
Rs.3000 p.m. for M.Phil Programme
Rs.6000/5000 p.m. for Ph.D. Programme under scheme including ICSSRs
UGC JRF can be available for both the Programmes
Journals and post-graduates in Journalism can avail of a JET Fellowship scheme to undergo the M.Phil coursework or the full Programme.

On behalf of various participating Universities, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 51 cities spread all over the country for admission to:

M. Sc. (Biotechnology)
M. Sc. (Agril) / M.V.Sc. (Biotechnology)
M. Tech (Biotechnology) programmes.

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained by post by sending a request to the Deputy Registrar (CEEB) JNU, New Delhi 110 067, alongwith a Bank Draft of Rs.180/- drawn in favour of JNU, New Delhi, together with a self-addressed unstamped envelope of 28×20cms size mentioning clearly the course for which the form is required i.e., for M. Sc. (Biotechnology) Or M. Sc. (Agriculture) M.V.Sc; Or M. Tech. (Biotechnology) programme.

Admission 2007-08

The University will hold Entrance Examination on May 15, 16, 17 and 18, 2007 for admission to following full-time programmes of study in 51 cities spread all over India and in Kathamandu (Nepal) and Colombo (Sri Lanka):

Category A Admission through Entrance Examination

Programmes: M.Phil / Ph.D. in International Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, Foreign Languages. Life Science, Environmental Sciences, Sanskrit Studies & Law & Governance. M.Phil / Ph.D and M.Tech /Ph.D. in Computer and Systems Sciences. Pre-Ph.D. / Ph.D in Physical Sciences, Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine, MPH / PH.D master of Public Health. M.Phil in Portuguese and Arts & Aesthetics. M.Tech in Computational and Systems Biology. Master of Computer Application (MCA). M.A. in Politics (with specialization in International Relations), Economics (with specialization in the World Economy), Geography, History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, English, Linguistics, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Persian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Russian, Spanish and Arts & Aesthetics. M.Sc. in Life Sciences, Environmental Science and Physics. B.A. (Hons) in Persian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, Russian and Spanish (with Entry points to both 1st and 2nd year)

Category B Direct Admissions to Ph.D.

Programme: The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme on the basis of their performance in viva voce examination (without Entrance Examination) both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in the above Fields of Study (except Life Sciences), In addition, Group of Political Theory and Comparative Politics (International Relations) also offers Direct admission to Ph.D. programmes.

Category C- JRF Holders: The University also admits a limited number of candidates to M.Phil / Ph.D. and Pre-Ph.D. / Ph.D programmes who qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer & Systems Sciences, Information Technology & Centres for Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine without appearing in the Entrance Examination.

Foreign Nationals: All foreign Nationals present in India are required to appear in the Entrance Examination at any one of the Centres of entrance examination and they will be competing among themselves.

Reservation of Seats: 15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST for ST and 3% seats for PH (Physically Challenged / Handicapped) with a minimum of 40% disability) are reserved for candidates belonging to these categories. The Government of India has proposed to reserve seats for candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC) starting from academic year 2007-08. The same would be implemented as and when the Government order for the same would be implemented as and when the Government order for the same is received and approved by the Academic Council. In such a situation, University reserves the right to withdraw or modify the provision of deprivation points as per the approval of the Academic Council of the University.

How to Apply: Seats of Application Form and Prospectus can be had (i) either personally from the Counter on cash payment of Rs.120/- per set from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Friday); or (ii) through post by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs.200/- in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed (Unstamped) envelope of the size of 28 cms X 20 cms. Clearly indicating the Category for which the Application Form is required on the self-addressed envelope to the Assistant Registrar (Admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067. Money Orders and Cheques are not accepted.

Admission to Ph.D Programme in Biological and allied Science for 2006

National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites application for its Ph.D Programme in biology and related sciences. Cutting edge research at the institute encompasses a wide spectrum of diversity including chemical biochemical, computational and structural biological approaches, and fails under four broad areas
a)Immunity and infection
b)Reproduction and development
c)Molecular Design
d)Gene Regulation

Minimum qualifications:
M.Sc in any branch of science or M.Tech or M.B.B.S or M.V.Sc or MPharm or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi is required

First Division or equivalent grade or least 60% of aggregate score in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards is required
Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply. Candidates being provisional pending satisfactory fulfillment of the requirements above
Reservations are as per statutory norms.

Selection Procedure:
Candidates fulfilling minimum requirements will be invited for a written qualifying test on May 31 2006 at New Delhi at their own expense. The written test is aimed at evaluating abilities to comprehend analyse and reason
Candidates short listed from the results of the written test will be invited for interviews over June 1-30-06
Candidates selected after the interview will be enrolled for the Ph.D Programme of nil in academic affiliation with JNU New Delhi

Ph.D Programme:
The programme will start on July 03, 2006
The institute provides a fellowship stipend of Rs.8000/ 9,500 per month depending on the degree qualifications.

Shared hostel accommodation will be available on request
The selection of Guide for thesis work will only be made after successful completion of courses work with course work merit determining the project choices available.

Application Procedure:
Application should be typed on A4 size plain paper in the formal given below
Items 3 and 6 in the format should be typed as shown in the Senior secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

The candidates should sign each page of the typed application form
Completed application mast is accompanied with a crossed Demand Draft for Rs.300 of six months validity in favour of Director, National Institute of Immunology payable at New Delhi. A Demand Draft for Rs.100 is acceptable from SC/St candidates, provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The drafts are not refundable.

Attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained should accompany applications.

Two recent passport size Photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form.

Two self addressed stamped (RS.5) envelopes of 10cm * 22 cm should be enclosed.
Applications and demand drafts should be sent to The Administrative officer (A&T), National Institute of Immunology, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110067. so as to reach on or before April 10, 2006. Application for Ph.D Admission-2006 should be mentioned on the envelope.

Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entered. Applications received after the closing date will not be entertained on any ground including postal delays. The decisions of the Admission committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
