AICTE Announces Public Notice For Students Seeking Admission To Technical Education Courses

Attractive advertisements luring students seeking admission to technical courses are being issued by many institutions. Students desirous of joining any technical programme of any institution must confirm the status of its approval by AICTE as joining unapproved programmes can have serious consequences in terms of eligibility for employment, higher studies etc.
The students seeking admission are advised to consider the following before deciding on taking admission into courses/programmes in the field of Technical Education:
1. The courses/ programmes are approved by AICTE.
2. The approved courses/ programmes are affiliated to concerned affiliating authority/ University (Not applicable in case of PGDM/ PGDBM courses)
3. The Institution has adequate infrastructural, instructional and other facilities including faculty as per AICTE norms.
4. The programmes that are being run with the collaboration or in twining arrangement with. Foreign Institutions/ Universities have the approval of AICTE.
The Students may also look for relevant information in the Mandatory Disclosures of the concerned Institution’s Website; Mandatory Disclosure is a must for all AICTE approved Institutions. Mandatory disclosures inter-alia include profile of the faculty, teaching and learning process, fees, admission procedure, infrastructural facility, programmes, governance, results, placement etc.
AICTE has opened Students Facilitation Counters at the Headquarters and Regional Offices located at Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Chandigarh, Kanpur, Kolkata and Mumbai, where the required information in respect of approved technical programmes/ courses is available.
List of AICTE approved Institutions and Programmes and the NBA accredited programmes including their period of validity are also available on AICTE website: www.aicte.ernet.in

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has been established as an autonomous organization under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India for the proper planning and co-ordinated development of Technical Education System throughout the Country, Promotion of Qualitative Improvement of Technical Education in relation to planned quantitative growth, Regulation and proper maintenance of Norms and Standards in the Technical Education System. In order to fulfill the mandate given by the AICTE Act, the Council has notified regulations for grant of approval for establishment of new Technical Institutions, courses, intake etc. In accordance with these regulations:
i) No new technical institutions of Government, Government Aided or Private (Self-financing) institution, whether affiliated or not affiliated to a University shall be started and no new courses or programmes shall be introduced and no increase and/ or variation of intake in Technical Education shall be effected at all levels without obtaining prior approval of the Council. The Council will take Legal action against such defaulting Institution/ Society/ Trust/ Company/ Associated Individuals as the case may be.
(ii) No existing technical institution of Government, Government Aided or Private (Self-financing) institution, whether affiliated or not affiliated to a University shall conduct any technical course(s) without prior approval of the Council.
(iii) No University including Deemed University shall conduct technical course(s)/ programme(s) without ensuring maintenance of the norms and standards prescribed by the Council.
(iv) No University/ Board or any other body shall affiliate course/ programme of technical education not approved by the Council.
(v) No admission authority/ body/ institutions shall admit students to a course/ programme of technical education not approved by the Council.
Under the regulations, the defaulting Institutions/ Society/ Trust/ Company/ Associated Individuals as the case may be, are liable for stringent legal action including action under the provisions of Indian Penal Code and other relevant Indian Laws for conducting courses/ programmes without prior approval of AICTE in technical education as defined under AICTE Act.
