Council, Sambalpur University and payable at SBI, Jyoti-Vihar Branch (Code No. 6672) or U.Co Bank, Katapali Branch (Code No. 0710) along with an application on plain paper addressed to the Administrative Officer, P.G. Central Office, Sambalpur University. A self addressed envelope of size 13×8 is to be enclosed along with the application.

Indian Postal Order and Bank Draft Drawn On Any Other Bank Will Not Be Entertained.

Candidates can download the application form from the University website www.sambalpuruniversitypgc.in and while sending the application form a bank draft of Rs.375/- by crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of Chairman, PG Council, Sambalpur University and payable at SBI, Jyoti-Vihar Branch (Code No. 6672) or UCO Bank, Katapali Branch (Code No. 0710)should be enclosed.

UPSC stonewalls DoPTs request to disclose marks

Union Public Service Commissions (UPSC) paranoia about parting with information on the marks of candidates appearing for the all-India Civil Services Examinations extends not only to candidates but even to its nodal ministry, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

DoPT had been making repeated requests for candidates marks. It needs the information in connection with a controversy about separate interview boards for reserved category candidates. But, so far, its requests have been met with stony silence from the UPSC.

Allegations of bias in the way the all-India civil services selection interview is conducted for reserved candidates had cropped up some months ago in a letter from a reserved-category candidate to the Prime Ministers Office (PMO)

Govt Yet To Decide On Pay Hike For Civil Servants, Says Najib

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today that the government has yet to decide on Cuepacs request for a pay rise for civil servants.

Noting that the issue had not been discussed by the cabinet, he said that matters pertaining to salary were normally brought to the attention of the cabinet committee chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Well have to wait for the governments decision. The governments sympathetic to the plight of civil servants. Whatever it is, well have to take into account the governments capability and productivity of the civil service, he told reporters after attending the Pekan Fest sponsorship presentation ceremony here.

No. F. 5/1/2006-E1 (B): An examination for selection of candidates for appointment as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways will be held by the Union Public Service Commission on 22nd July, 2007 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Railways (Railways Board) in the Gazette of India dated the 17th February, 2007 at the following Centres:

1. The centres and the date of holding the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission. While every effort will be made to allot the candidates to the centres of their choice for examination, the Commission may, at their discretion, allot a different centre to a candidate, when circumstances so warrant. Candidates admitted to the examination will be informed of the time table and place or places of examination.

Candidates should note that no request for change of centre will normally be granted. However, when a candidate desires a change in centre from the one he had indicated in his Application Form for the Examination, he must send a letter addressed to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, giving full justification as to why he desires a change in centre. Such requests will be considered on merits but requests received in the Commissions Office after 18th April, 2007 will not be entertained under any circumstances.

2. The approximate number of vacancies, to be filled on the results of the examination is 25.

The number of vacancies mentioned above is liable to alteration.

Reservation will be made for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.

Civil Service Examination 2007

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2007 on 20th May 2007 for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and certain other Group A and Group B Central Service / Posts. The examination will be held at various centres across the country.

Salient features of the examination are published herein for general information of candidates. For details regarding Syllabus and Scheme of the examination, Centres of examination, Guidelines for filling up the application form etc. aspirants must consult the detailed Notice of the examination published in the Employment News / Rozer Samachar dated 16th December 2006.

Conditions of Eligibility

(a) Age limits:

Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years on 1st August 2007.

Not upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extend specified in the Notice.

(b) Educational Qualification
Degree of a recognized University or an equivalent qualification.
(c) Physical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-III of Rules for the Civil Service Examination 2007 published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 16th December 2006.

(a) Number of Attempts:

The Maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible, will be as follows
(i) General Category - Four
(ii) Other Backward Classes - Seven
(iii) Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)- No limit Application Form:

The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice published in Employment News / Rozgar Samachar) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/- (Rupees twenty) only. Each such Form can be used only once and only for the one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining the Application Forms from the designated HPOs / Pos the candidates Should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC Form Supply Monitoring Cell over Telephone No. 011-23389366 / Fax No.011-23387310.
Fee:

Rs.50/- (Rupees Fifty only) through Central Recruitment Fees Stamp only. SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of Fees (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).

All applications must reach the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 either by hand or by Post / Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 15th January 2007.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the Notice, the last date for receipt of applications by Post / Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 15th January 2007.
