Common Proficiency Test (CPT) Examination 2007

The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is pleased to notify that the first Common Proficiency Test 2007 (CPT 2007) will be held on Sunday, the 4th February 2007 from 9.00 AM to 2.30 PM (IST) in two sessions, at the following centers provided that sufficient number of candidates offer themselves to appear from each center.

A Simplified Entry to the Chartered Accountancy Course

Common Proficiency Test (CPT) will replace existing Professional Education (Course-I), which requires 10-month study period followed by an exhaustive theoretical examination.

Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is an objective type test to be held every February, May, August and November. This will reduce long waiting for entry to the chartered accountancy education and training.
The next Common Proficiency Test (CPT) examination is planned to be conducted in on Sunday, the 4th February 2007 in two sessions as below, at the following centers provided that sufficient number of candidates offer themselves to appear from each center.

First Session:

Time: 9.00 AM to 11.00 AM (IST)(i.e. Morning Session)

Section - A: Fundamentals of Accounting
Section - B: Mercantile Laws
Second Session:

Time: 12.30 PM to 2.30 PM (IST) (i.e. Afternoon Session)

Section - C: General Economics
Section - D: Quantitative Aptitude
CPT Duration: The minimum course duration as per the regulations of the institution is 3 months

The course duration is the minimum time that a student has to spend on taking up the course at this level. It is the period starting from the time the student gets registered to the time the student completes the course. The actual time that a student has to spend on the course is dependent on the actual date of registration.

CPT Eligibility: There is no restriction of any sort on the eligibility of supplementary passed candidates to do these courses. One can pursue the course even if he/she is a supplementary passed candidate at the 10th (or equivalent examination) or the 10 + 2 (or equivalent examination).

Common Proficiency Test will be an objective types multiple-choice based examination. Candidates will be allowed to opt for Hindi medium Question Paper Booklet for answering the questions. Detailed information will be found given in the Information brochure.

Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to those students who are already registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for the said course and fulfill the requisite eligibility conditions.
