Minimum academic qualifications prescribed :
A Bachelor’s degree with atleast one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognized University or equivalent. Age Limits21-30 years as on 1.7.2006
Remarks: Candidates appearing at degree examination (with prescribed subject) also eligible to compete subject to certain conditions.

Except for the Defence Services Examinations at Serial Numbers 2,3,8 and 9, the upper age limits are relaxable in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes and certain other categories as notified by the Government from time to time
Female candidates are not eligible for the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination and the Combined Defence Services Examination.

Admission season in capital will begin with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) conducting its entrance examinations across the 75 centres in India and abroad. The entrance exams will be conducted from May 15 to May 18.
We will be going to places like Bhutan and Colombo and plan to include more offshore centres in the near future, said JNU Vice Chancellor Mr. B.B. Bhattacharya.
Approximately 98,000 students will be appearing for the entrance examination this year which is far more than the number of admission seekers the previous year. The varsity will offer approximately 1500 seats in 100 different programmes.

Dates for talent Exam Announced
New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) announced dates for its National Talent Search Examination for 2007. It offers 1,000 scholarships for students of Class VIII and X.
According to an official release issued by the NCERT, as per the new scheme from this year, students will be offered scholarship from Class VIII and Class X. Seats are also reserved for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All states and union territories will make selections for Stage-I exams and the qualifying students will be eligible for the Stage-II examination,
CBSES Telecounselling Service From Feb 1 To Cover 13 Cities
Help is at hand for students panicking over the approaching board exams. Starting February 1, the CBSE is going to start its exam helpline for students in 13 cities across the country for the first time the facility will also be available in Mumbai, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Vishakhapatnam and Hosur, apart from the eight cities where the facility is already available.

Mutyalaraju Reva, who is from Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, topped the 2006 Civil Services Examination in which eight women figure in the top 20.
Announcing the final results today, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recommended 474 candidates, including 101 women. Reva is from the backward caste community.
Reva is a product of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc). Anindita Mitra, an engineer, whose overall ranking was eighth, topped among women.
