Around 700 candidates for a medical entrance test went through a harrowing ordeal after their exam was cancelled today for unexplained reasons in the Jogomaya College which was the venue for the eastern region. The examination, ASSO-CET 2007, is organised by the Maharashtra-based Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical and Dental Colleges (AMUPMDC).
The ASSO-CET is conducted for admissions to seats in private medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra. With the exam scheduled to begin at 2 pm today, the candidates reached the venue on time only to find the gates of Jogomaya College shut.
We had been left in the lurch as none of the college authorities or those from the AMUPMDC had stepped out to inform us about the delay. At 3.30 pm they merely put up a notice saying the exam had been cancelled without giving any reasons, said Amrita Pritam who has come all the way from Bihar to appear for the exam.
