The eligible candidates are called for a written test in
General Intelligence
Mathematical Aptitude
General Knowledge.

Paper II

(Time: 45 minutes Max. Marks: 100)

English (50 marks)

i. A Paragraph of about 15 sentences on one topic out of three or four topics. (20 marks)

ii. Comprehension: A paragraph followed by 5 questions. (15 marks)

iii. English Grammar: Common Errors. Narration, Voice, Articles, Propositions, Transformation of Sentences, etc. (15 marks)

iv. Mathematics (50 marks)

There are 5 questions of 10 marks each. The questions are generally on Fractions, Percentage, Interest, Areas and Factorization.

Note :-

Questions in Paper I will be Objective Type and bilingual, i.e., Hindi and English. Paper II will be of Descriptive type. Only those fit will be called for Interview. Final selection will be on merit.

In this paper, there are questions of about 30 marks in Physics, 20 marks in Chemistry and 50 marks of Mensuration (Areas and Volumes), Algebra, Trigonometry and Arithmetic, etc.

a. Essential Qualification:

Matric or equivalent preferably with Science.

b. Age Limits:

14 to 19 years (relaxable by 5 years for SC/ ST candidates).

c. Physical Standards:

Weight-45 kg (Maximum). Height 150 cm (Minimum) and well-developed chest with minimum expansion of 5 cm.

3. Application Procedure

Candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed Performa published in the Employment News to the nearest Recruitment Zone by the prescribed date.

4. Selection Procedure

a. Written Exam:

The subjects of the written examination, time allowed and the maximum marks for each paper will be as under:

Based on the performance of the candidates in the written examination, candidates will be called for interview at Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta and Bangalore. Based on the performance of the candidates in the final interview, the selected candidates will be sent to Naval Dockyard School, Mumbai for training. Period of training is three years for most trades.

ii. Unitary method-application to simple and compound interest, time and distance, time and work, percentages, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, averages, areas and volumes.

Abbreviations, Books and Authors, Facts about India and the World, Sports, Awards and Prizes, Everyday Science, short notes on various subjects in 100 words.

Eligibility Conditions: Unmarried Indian citizens are eligible.

a.Educational Qualifications:

Matriculation or equivalent with Science and Mathematics with 60% or above marks in aggregate. Candidates with less than 60% marks in Matric may be recruited if they have secured 55% or more marks in aggregate in a higher board examination with Science and Math’s.

b. Age Limits:

15 to 18 years.

c. Physical Standards:

Weight correlated to height and proportionate chest with minimum expansion of 5 cms. Good medical and physical health, free from any disease/disability. No cardio-vascular, surgical deformities or infection of ear. No history of fits or psychiatric ailment.

i. Minimum height: 157 cm.

ii. Minimum eye standard: Without glasses better eye 6/6 and worse 6/9.

iii. Color perception: CP II.

The eligible candidates may complete the application form as per format given in the Employment News on a plain paper either handwritten or typed.

Science

State of Matter, Universe, Chemical bonding, Electricity, Gravitation, Newton’s laws, Simple Harmonic Motion, Work and Energy, Heat, Light, Nuclear Energy, Metals and Nonmetals, Carbon and its compounds: Health and Nutrition, Physiology.

Mathematics

Algebraic identities, Surds, Linear and simultaneous equations, Basic Trigonometry and Geometry, Mensuration, Quadratic equations, Set theory, Polynomials and Exponents.

General Knowledge

Who’s Who, Sports, Entertainment, Indian History and Geography, Discoveries and Inventions. Elementary Knowledge of Computers.

The question paper will be bilingual, and of objective-type of 75 minutes duration. The standard of the questions will be of matriculation level.

b. Physical Fitness Test (PPT):

Qualifying in the Physical Fitness is mandatory for enrolment. The standard of PFT is as follows:

i. One-mile (16 km) run to be completed in 7 minutes.

ii. 20 squats (Uthak-Baithak).

ii.10 push-ups.

17-20 years on the 1 st January or 1 st August of the year of examination.

c. Physical Standards:
