Selection Procedure

Eligible candidates will be called for a written test in:

a. English;

b. Intelligence and General Awareness;

c. Mathematics; and

d. Science.

Questions in these tests will be of Objective Type and bilingual, i.e., in Hindi and English. Candidates are required to qualify in each part. Results will be declared on the same day and successful candidates will have to immediately appear for the Trade Allocation Test.

Disqualification for Admission for Combined Defence Services Examination


Disqualification for Admission to the Training Course :

Candidates who were admitted to an earlier course at the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, Air Force Flying College, Naval Academy, Goa, Officers Training Academy, Chennai but were removed there from on disciplinary ground will not be considered for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy or for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army.

Candidates who were previously withdrawn from the Indian Military Academy for lack of officer-like qualities will not be admitted to the Indian Military Academy.

Candidates who were previously selected as Special Entry Naval Cadets but were withdrawn from the National Defence Academy or from Naval Training Establishments for lack of Officer-like qualities will not be eligible for admission to the Indian Navy.

Candidates who were withdrawn from Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, NCC and Graduate course for lack of Officer-like qualities will not be considered for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army.

Candidates who were previously withdrawn from the NCC and Graduates course for lack of Officer-like qualities will not be admitted to the Indian Military Academy.

Introduction of Stenographers Grade ‘d’ Exam


Introduction

This examination is held once a year, generally in the month of May. Blank application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of December of the previous year. The last date for submission of applications is generally last week of January.

The Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment to the post of Grade ‘D’ Stenographers’ in the scale of Rs. 4000-100-6000 for the following groups of Services/Offices.

a. Group ‘X’

1. Central Secretariat Stenographers’ Service-Grade D.

2. Railway Board Secretariat Stenographers’ Service Grade D.

3. Armed Forces Headquarters Stenographers’ Service Grade D.

4. Grade III of Stenographers’ Cadre of IFS `B’.

5. Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

6. Any other Department/Office not mentioned above.

b. Group ‘Y’

1. Subordinate Offices of the Government of India located all over India.

2. Office of the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India and Accountant General (Audit) and Accountant
General (Account and Establishment).

3. Controller General of Defense Accounts.

4. Delhi Administration.

5. Any other Office/Organization not mentioned above.

Eligibility of Stenographers Grade ‘d’ Exam


Eligibility

a. Age:

18 to 25 years on the 1st January of the year of examination. Upper age limit relaxable upto five years for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and certain other categories of persons according to orders in force.

b. Educational Qualifications:

Matriculation or equivalent.

Scheme Of The Examination for Stenographers Grade ‘d’ Exam


Scheme Of The Examination

The examination will consist of two parts:

a. Part I

Written Examination

b. Part II

Stenography Test.

Written Examination

The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks for each subject will be as follows:

There is a single paper for both the subjects of the Objective multiple Choice Type questions. Candidates are required to qualify in each of the two subjects separately.

The Commission has full discretion to fix the minimum qualifying marks in either or both the subjects. Only such candidates who attain, in each of the two subjects of the Written Examination, a minimum standard, as may be fixed by the Commission in their discretion, are eligible to take the Shorthand Test (Part II of the Examination).

The candidates will have option to answer the language test either in Hindi or in English. The candidates who opt for Hindi medium in shorthand are required to take the language test in Hindi only and candidates opting for English shorthand are required to take the language test in English.

Standard of the Examination

The standard of the questions is approximately that of the Matriculation Examination of an Indian University.

Introduction of Stenographers Grade ‘c’ Exam


Introduction

The Stenographers’ Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of

a. Central Secretariat Stenographers’ Service-Grade C (for inclusion in the Select List of the Grade);

b. Railway Board Secretariat Stenographers’ Service Grade C (for inclusion in the Select List of the Grade);

c. Indian Foreign Service (B)-Grade II of the Stenographers’ Cadre;

d. Armed Forces Headquarters Stenographers’ Service Grade C;

e. Posts of Stenographers in other departments/ organizations Attached Offices of the Govt. of India not participating in above services.

This examination is held once a year generally in the month of March. Blank application forms and other particulars are available usually in the month of October of last year in the Employment News. Last date for submission of application is usually 4th week of November of last year.
