The Civil Services Examination consists of two successive stages: (i) Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Objective type) for the selection of candidates for the Main Examination; and (ii) Civil Services Main Exam. (Written & Interview) for selection of candidates for the various services and posts noted below. Applications are invited to the following academic programmes for the academic year 2007-08 in the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady and Regional Centre, Name of the centre and details of course offered all the Centres are given as under.

The competitive examination comprises two successive stages:
(i) Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinations (Objective Type) for the selection of candidates for Main Examination; and 1 (ii) Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.
2. The Preliminary Examination consists of two papers of Objective type (Multiple choice questions) and carry a-maximum of 450 marks in the subjects set out in sub-section (A) of Section II. This xamination is meant to serve as a screening test only;
The Combined Matric Prelim. Exam. is to test for selection of candidates for the Main Examination for the different categories of posts mentioned in first paragraph. The written exam. will comprise one paper with two parts.

Note :-
The questions in all the tests will be "Objective Multiple-Choice-Type". Candidates will be required to qualify in each of the two tests separately. The questions will be set in English and Hindi.
Main Examinations
The Main Examinations will be of descriptive-type.
Typewriting Test/Shorthand Test
The candidates who qualify the Main Exam(s) will have to undergo a Typewriting
(a) A candidate who is appointed to the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Foreign Service on the results of an earlier examination and continues to be a member of that Service will not be eligible to compete at this examination.
In case such a candidate is appointed to the IAS/IFS after the Preliminary Examination of Civil Service Examination, is over and he/she continues to be a member of that service, he/she shall not be eligible to appear in the Civil Services Main Examination notwithstanding h^/her having qualified in the Preliminary Examination.

A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Note I: Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commissions examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also

1. Substance and Attributes: Aristotle, Descartes, Locke, Berkeleys criticism, Nyaya - Viasesika, Buddhist criticism of Pudgala.
2. God, Soul and the World: Thomas Acquinas, St. Augustine, Spinoza, Descartes, Nyaya-Vaisesika, Sankara, Ramanuja.
3. Universals: Realism and Nominalism (Plato, Aristotle, Berkeleys criticism of abstract ideas, Nyay-Vaisesika, Buddhism).
4. Bases of Knowledge: Pramanavada in Carvaka, Nyaya-Vaisesika, Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta.

The Combined Graduate Prelim Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission for selecting the candidates for the main examinations for the following recruitments:
a. Assistants Grade [Group `B' Non-Gazetted) for the groups of services/offices like AFHQ CSS, Railway Board, IFS (B) and Posts in offices like Research Designs & Standards Organization, Central Vigilance Commission, etc.
b. Inspectors of Central Excise, Income Tax, Preventive Officer in Custom Houses, Assistant Enforcement Officers, etc.
