The Pondicherry University was established in October 1985 by the government of India through an act of parliament. The university being a central university is fully funded by university grants commission. It is a member of the association of Indian universities and the association of commonwealth universities.
Admission is open to persons all over India. The medium of instruction is English.

Duration of course: 18 months
New course: bachelor of library & information science (1 year)
Postal admission:
For application form and information brochure, write to the director, directorate of distance education, Pondicherry University. Pondicherry 14 along with a DD for Rs.150/- drawn in favour of the finance officer, pondicherry university payable at Pondicherry with two typed address slips/stickers.
Online admission:
It is a facility to submit form through online and downloaded the same to submit along with fee to the directorate by post. Visit www.pondiuni.org
Spot admission:
Spot admission is a single window concept devised for the convenience of the students. Under this system, the eligible students can bring the original certificates directly to the center, get admitted. The original certificates will be returned to them immediately after verification.
