All India Competitive Examination for Admissions to Master’s Degree Programmes in the Field of Agriculture, Veterinary and Allied Sciences

Exam Details:
Applications are invited for the 11th All India Competitive Examination for admissions to 100% seats of Masters Degree programme at IARI, IVRI, CIFE, NDRI and 25% seats at all the State Agricultural Universities, Central Universities (CAU, BHU,AMU, and VisvaBharti), and AAIDU in the, field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Agri. Engineering, Home Science, Social Sciences, Dairy, Fisheries, Veterinary, and Allied Sciences for the Academic Session 2006-2007 and award of ICARs Junior Research Fellowships (JRF).

The details of the Major Subject Groups and the Subject areas have been given in the Information Bulletin, the Fellowships based on merit can be availed in Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes based Deemed-to-be-Universities, and other institutions namely BHU, AMU, VisvaBharti, and AAIDU. There are 475 Fellowships (JRF) in 19 major subject groups which will be awarded based on merit rank of the candidate in this examination. The Fellowships at present are at the rate of Rs.8, 000/- per month for graduates of Veterinary Science and Rs.5, 760/- per month for graduates in other disciplines for a period of two years with a contingent grant of Rs.6, 000/- per annum for all. 15% seats and JRF are reserved for SC, 7.5% for S.T., and 3% for Physically Handicapped (RH.) candidates. Two percent seats are also reserved for the candidates from under-privileged states (UPS) not having any Agricultural/ Veterinary University, There is no reservation of JRF for candidates of UPS category. They would be entitled for JRF based on overall merit. There will not be any direct nomination for admissions. The admission as well as JRF will be given only to those candidates who join the Masters Degree Programme in a University/ Institute other than from where he/ she has obtained Bachelors Degree except NDRI, Karnal for the Academic Session commencing 2006 only,

Date and Venue of the Examination: Examination will be held on 21 May, 2006 (Sunday) from 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. at 27 different Examination Centres all over the country as specified in the Information Bulletin. In no case, even of JRF, claims for reimbursement of travel expenses or cost/loss of any kind incurred by the candidate or the guardian for attending the Examination, Counseling, and reporting for admission will be entertained. The ICAR/Universities will not reimburse such claims/costs.

Eligibility:
Candidates having passed their Bachelors Degree (or appearing in final year examination during the year 2006), in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries, Horticulture, Home Science, Sericulture, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Forestry, Agri. Marketing Banking and Cooperation, Food Science & Technology, Biotechnology, Process & Food Engineering, Computer Science, Basic, and Allied Sciences under 10+2+4 (most seats) or 10+2+3 (only few seats) are eligible to apply for the combined examination for JRF and admission to Masters Degree Programme as per norms of participating Universities. Candidates must have obtained OGPA 6.60/10.00 or 3.25/ 5.00 or 2.6/ 4.00 for general & UPS categories and 5.50/10.00 or 2.75/ 5.00 or 2.20/4.00 for SC, ST and Physically handicapped categories.

For admission in the subject of Veterinary Sciences, candidates must have completed B.V.Sc. & A.H. with Internship before the date of registration in the University or December 31, 2006 which so ever is earlier. He/she should be an Indian National and should be completing minimum 19 year of age as on 31st August 2006.

The candidate appearing in the Bachelors Degree Examination in the year 2006 are also eligible–to apply provisionally, but they will have to submit Certificate/ Provisional Marks Sheet signed by the Registrar of the University of their having completed the degree in all respects on the date of Counseling. Non-submission of documentary evidence for having completed the Degree at the time of Counseling will disqualify the candidate.

Most of the participating Universities/ Institutes in this Examination require four years U.G. degree. In few Universities/ Institutes, graduates from non-agricultural stream are also eligible for admission to Masters Degree Programme only in some of the specified subjects. For such candidates, if admitted, the duration of Masters Degree Programme would be of 3 years at IARI and some other Universities as the 1st year will be for completing remedial courses in Agriculture and no fellowship would be paid during the first year to such candidates. For admission, the candidate has to fulfill the eligibility criteria of the admitting University even if he/ she may have been called for counseling.

How To Apply:
Information Bulletins with Application Forms will be available for sale from 1st March, 2006 up to 3rd April, 2006 and can be obtained against Cash payment of Rs.500/- + Rs.20/- (Sale Charges) for General and UPS Categories, and Rs.250/- + Rs.20/- (Sale Charges) for S.C., S.T., and PH. categories from the offices of the Registrars of State Agricultural Universities, CAU Imphal and Syndicate Bank branches at

Information Bulletins with Application Forms can also be obtained by post from 01 March, 2006 up to 29 March, 2006 by sending a written request along with a Bank Draft of Rs.550/- (Rs.500/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Form + Rs.50/-towards postage and handling charges) for General Category & UPS Categories and Rs.300/- (Rs.250/- as cost of Information Bulletin with Application Form + Rs.50/- towards postage and handling charges) for S.C., S.T., and PH. candidates. The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR payable at New Delhi. A self addressed envelope (Size 30 x 25) without postal stamps should be sent with an application on plain paper and the Bank Draft to The Controller of Examination, Education Division, Room No. 226, ICAR, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi 110012. The requests received for the Information Bulletins and Application Forms by post after 29 March, 2006 will not be entertained. The candidate may write the details of his/ her name and address on the back of the Bank Draft. It may be checked that the Bank Draft contains the name of the issuing bank and branch, signature of the issuing authority, amount in words, date of draft etc. clearly.

The Information Bulletin with Application Forms may also be obtained personally from 1st March, 2006 up to 3rd April, 2006 by depositing Bank Draft without postage and handling charges at the sale counter of the specified places as given below.

Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal j Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, the last date is 16 April, 2006. Application Forms received after the last date will be rejected and Education Division shall not responsible for non-receipt of application within the time scheduled due to Postal delay or any other reason for delay. All disputes relating to the conduct of this examination or any matter connected with this advertisement shall be in the jurisdiction of DELHI COURT only.

BTech and MTech students from leading engineering colleges in the country participated with their project reports either in the field of Electronics and Communications Engineering or Life Sciences or Chemical Engineering.

I am interested in pursuing research in renewable sources of energy. The dryer has been designed in order to enhance the value of vegetables and fruit produced in the country by adopting effective and less expensive unit and raw materials, said Vaibhav, a third-year student of BTech at UICT, who designed a Solar Pond Dryer.

Candidates fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to apply for the course:-

1. MBBS Degree from an Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India.

2. MSc in Biosciences / allied subjects or B. Tech. in Biotechnology from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks or equivalent in the qualifying examination (relaxed by 5% for SC/ST, Defence category and Physically Handicapped candidates).

Age: The upper age limit is 45 years for in-service candidates and 28 years for other as on 31st July, 2007. The upper age limit can be relaxed up to a maximum of 5 years in exceptional cases by the Admission Officer of NICD if he / she are satisfied with the merit of the case.

Seats: Intake will be limited to a maximum of 10 seats. Of this, three seats are earmarked for World Health Organization sponsored fellows. For the remaining 7 seats, admission will be done on the basis of the Screening Test. These will be distributed in the ratio of 60% for In-Service Candidates (working in Health institutions / organizations in Central / State Government or Public Sector and having five years experience, of which at least 3 (three) years should be in Public Health activities) and 40% for Direct candidates. A maximum of 5 (five) seats are earmarked for candidates from medical stream and two (2) seats for those from allied Health Sciences stream. In-Service Candidates shall, at the time of application or counselling for admission, furnish a letter from their employer that, if they are admitted, they would be relieved for two years for undertaking the course on a full-time basis at NICD. Reservation will be as per University Norms (Final decision regarding reservation policy will be announced on University website www.ipu.ac.in before the start of first counselling.)

Selection: This will be on the basis of Screening Test to be conducted on 24th June, 2007 (Sunday) in Delhi. Additional Test Centers can be considered at Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalooru (Bangalore) subject to availability of sufficient candidates. WHO sponsored candidates are exempted from appearing in the Screening Test, admission for such candidates will be made by the University on the basis of merit. All other details are available in the Information Bulletin.

How To Apply:
Application Form and Information Bulletin for admission to MPH (FE) for the academic session 2007-08 will be available between 10.00 A.M. and 4.00 P.M. on all working days from 21st May 2007 to 8th June 2007 on payment of Rs. 400/-(Four Hundred Only) in the form of Demand Draft in favour of “Director, National Institute of Communicable Diseases” payable at “Delhi”. For obtaining the same by registered post a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 450/- (Four Hundred and Fifty) in favour of “Director, National Institute of communicable Diseases” payable at “Delhi” should be sent to the Administrative Officer (F), National Institute of Communicable Diseases, 22-Sham Nath Marg, Delhi-54 so as to reach the Institute by 6.00 PM on 1″ June, 2007.
