Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will hold All India Written Entrance Test for admission to MBBS course in TWO stages:

PMT/PAT-2009 SCREENING
and
PMT-2009 MAIN

BHU PMT/PAT-2009 SCREENING shall be held on Wednesday, the 6th May 2009 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres, to screen candidates for eligibility to take PMT-2009 MAIN exam for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 14th June 2009 at Varanasi Centre only. For B. Pharm. course, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT/PAT-2008 SCREENING.

The all India Screening Test, BHU PMT-2009 for admission to MBBS / BDS / BAMS / B. Pharm. / B. Pharm.(Ay.) Course will be held on Wednesday, the 6th May 2009 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centers. The selection of the candidates for all the above stated courses other than that of MBBS would be done exclusively on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2009 Screening Test. The PMT-2009 Main for MBBS course would however be held on Sunday, the 14th June 2009 for those who are short listed under PMT-2009 Screening Test at Varanasi Centre only.

Eligibility Criteria for BHU PMT 2009:
1. The candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with 50% of aggregate marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) having English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
2. The candidates appearing in the qualifying exams can also apply.

AGE criteria for applicants applying for BHU PMT 2009 :
1. The candidate must have completed 17 years.
2. He should not more than 25 years as on 31st December, 2008.
3. Candidates born after 1st January, 1992 and on or before 31st December, 1983 can not apply.

Sale of application form starts from Tuesday, 01.01.2008 The last date of sale of application forms from bank is Friday, February, 2008.

By Post:.From the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request through Registered Post along with Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) of Rs. 1060/- (Rs. 660/- for SC/ST candidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi.

Application form will be sent by Speed / Registered Post. Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay.

The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of DD).

Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm 6 cm size MUST also accompany it. The ENVELOP containing requisition for PMT/PAT application form should be super scribed “Request for Application for PMT/PAT-2008, BHU”. Last date of requisition for PMT/PAT form by post is Wednesday, the 20th February 2008.

Incomplete/non-cashable Draft (under amount/unsigned/ without Bank Code No. & Seal) shall not be accepted.

NOTE:
(a) Separate Bank Draft will be required for each application form.
(b) M.O./I.P.O./Cheques shall NOT be accepted under any circumstances. Application Forms from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, can be obtained by POST only and not in person. In case forms are not available at Bank of Baroda Branches, the same can be obtained by post from Director’s Office upto 20th February, 2008.

Last Date for submission of completed forms:
Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach THE DIRECTOR (PMT CELL), INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI-221 005 latest by SATURDAY, the 8th March 2008 till 5.00 PM.

Application forms received after the last date shall not be accepted. Foreign Nationals are not required to appear in the PMT examination for MBBS course. They may seek admission through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi, as per the rules laid down for the purpose and their nomination must reach by Wednesday, the 16th July 2008.

All India Post Graduate Entrance Examination for Admission Under 50% Open Merit Seats Quota in MD/MS/PG Diploma and MDS Courses in Medical and Dental Colleges

Applications are invited in the prescribed form All India Post Graduate Medical / Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE 2007) to be conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Sunday, the 13th January, 2007 for admission under open merit seats quota in various Postgraduate 9MD/MS/PG Diploma & MDS) courses in Medical and Dental Colleges in the country run by the Union of India, State Governments (except Government of Andhra Pradesh and J&K) and Municipal or other local authorities.

Exam Date: 13th January, 2007

Eligibility:
(1) Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.

(2) The candidates must possess MBBS/BDS degree from a recognized Medical / Dental College or a foreign degree included in the schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 AND full registration either from the Medical / Dental Council of India or State Medical / Dental Council after completing the compulsory rotating internship.

(3) Candidates who have obtained MBBS / BDS from Medical / Dental Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible to apply. However, candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare / D.G.H.S., New Delhi) to do MBBS / BDS from Medical / Dental Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to apply, subject to submission of requisite documents specified in the Prospectus.

(4) The Candidates should complete the required period of 12 months pre 0- registration internships from a recognised Hospital on or before 31st March, 2007.

The request must reach the Assistant Controller of Examination, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi 110 608 before 03.10.2007. Request received thereafter will not be entertained. Money Order / Cheque/ Postal Order / Cash or any other form of payment will NOT be accepted for postal sale. The words 2007Request For Application Form For Aipgmee-20072007 should be written on the envelope containing request for application form, and also on top of the request letter. The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in Capital Letters and with PIN code. AIIMS will not be responsible for delay in/non-receipt of Application Form caused by illegible or incomplete address.

Important:
(1) Candidates must obtained Prospectus cum application forms ONLY from an authorised branch of S.B.I. or by post from Examination Section of AIIMS. Forms obtained from an unauthorised source will be rejected.

(2) Candidates are advised to procure prospectus cum application forms as early as possible instead of waiting for the last date. If the Application Forms are sold out before the last date of sale and the same are not available, AIIMS / State Bank of India or its specified branches will not be responsible for any consequences that may arise due to non availability of forms. In case a candidates does not get the form through Post Office in time, AIIMS will not be responsible for such lapses.

Eligibility:
Minimal Qualifications for admission (PhD)

1. A Masters degree in the discipline securing not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate or MBBS/BE/B.Tech. They have to work on full time basis for a minimum period of THREE years. Two years in case of having M.Phil/DM in Neurology/M.Ch in Neurosurgery/MD/MS/DNB from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS. Two Years MA/M.Sc. degree in Psychology or two-year M.Phil. degree in Clinical Psychology (NIMHANS) in case of Mental Health & Social Psychology.

2. Candidates with master’s degree obtained through research and awarded on the basis of the evaluation of the thesis (from a University recognized by NIMHANS which do not award marks at the master’s level) are also eligible to apply for Ph.D. programme.

Eligibility For MD in Psychiatry:
(a) MBBS: The duration of the course will be for a period of three years.

(b) Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM): The duration of the course will be for a period of two years.

Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM): MBBS. The duration of the course will be for a period of two years.
MPhil in Mental Health & Social Psychology: Two years full time MA/M.Sc. degree in Psychology.
MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work: Masters Degree in Social Work.
MPhil in Neurophysiology: Masters Degree in Life Sciences/ MBBS degree.
MPhil in Neurosciences: Master’s degree in Physical/Life/Behavioural Sciences or BE/B.Tech or MBBS.

MPhil in Biophysics: M.Sc. in Physical Life Science/MBBS/BE Degree.

MSc in Psychiatric Nursing Course:
(a) The course is open to those who are registered Nurses with BSc/ BSc (Hons) in Nursing.

(b) Should have a minimum of two years of experience after obtaining BSc/ BSc (Hons) in Nursing degree in Hospital, Nursing Education, Institution or Community Health setting.

Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing (DPN) AND Diploma in Neurological & Neurosurgical Nursing (DNN): Should possess A Grade Certificate in General Nursing, recognized by Indian Nursing Council should be registered nurse in the State Nursing Council with two years experience.

Common for all Courses:
The qualifying degrees for all the above mentioned courses should be from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS. For medical qualification the degree should be recognized by the Medical Council of India.

The Candidates should have obtained not less than 55% of Marks in the aggregate of the Master’s degree for non-medical courses.

A relaxation of 5% on the aggregate of marks obtained will be given for non-medical and Ph.D. courses in respect of SC/ST candidates.

Guidelines: In respect of Non-Medical Courses, candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examinations and are awaiting results may also apply. However, such candidates will be eligible to appear for the Entrance Test, only if they produce the proof of having passed the examination in writing issued by the University as on the date of entrance test. In respect of Medical Courses, the candidates should have completed one year internship and registration with State Medical Council on or before 1st May 2007 (proof of completion from competent authority to be produced at the time of joining, failing which admission will be cancelled).

How To Apply:
1. Application forms and Prospectus can be obtained from the Director, IMHANS on request by mentioning the course and enclosing a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (non-refundable) (Rs.400/- in case of SC/ST candidates) owards application fee drawn in favour of the Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore-560029, along with a self addressed stamped envelope (25cm x 18cm) affixing stamp worth Rs.20/-.

2. Candidates may apply for more than one course provided they are eligible.

3. Candidates applying for both MD & DPM can apply in the same application. Candidates applying for Other Courses should apply on separate application for each course.

4. Foreign Nationals are required to submit their applications through the Diplomatic Channel (through the Ministry of External Affairs). They shall also appear for the common Entrance Test along with the other candidates.

5. Sponsored candidates should submit their application through proper channel and they should also appear for the NIMHANS Common Entrance Test.

6. AGE LIMIT: For MD & DPM Courses the age should not be more than 32 years and, relaxable in case of SC/ST Candidates by a maximum of 5 years as on the date of commencement of Courses. For sponsored candidates age should not be more than 40 years as on the date of commencement of the Courses. The candidates should produce the sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format.

7. Registration Fee: For MD & DPM Rs.500/- for each course and no registration fee for Non-Medical courses.

8. Duly filled in application should be sent to the Director, NIMHANS, P.B.No.2900, Bangalore 560 029 along with a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, NIMHANS towards registration fee by superscribing the name of the course applied for on the Cover.

9. Applications down loaded from the Website should be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Non refundable) (Rs.400/- in case of SC/ST) towards application fee plus Registration fee indicated as above in case of MD & DPM.

UP Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination 2007 (UPPGMEE-2007)

Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College, Meerut

Applications are invited for UPPGMEE-2007 to various MD/MS/PG Diploma and MDS Courses of 2007 in the K.G. Medical/ Dental University, Luck now and in the U.P. State Medical Colleges of Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur and Meerut.

Eligibility:
1. Candidates who have passed MBBS/BDS Course from the State Medical College of Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Meerut and KG. Medical/Dental University, Lucknow and recognized Private Medical/Dental Colleges of U.P. or

2. Candidates who have passed MBBS from Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun, and are bonafide residents of U.P. and selected at the time of undivided Uttar Pradesh before appointed day (i.e. 9-11-2000).

3. Candidates who are pursuing PG Diploma Course in any subject shall be eligible, with the condition that he/ she will be considered for the Post Graduate Degree Course in the same subject only.

4. Candidates who are pursuing Post Graduate Course after being selected by UPPGMEE/ AH India Pre Medical/ Dental Entrance Examination shall be eligible, only if he/she has resigned and the resignation has been accepted by the Principal of the concerned Medical/Dental College and has refunded the stipend received by him/her during the said course before the notification of this examination.

5. Candidates must have completed compulsory rotatory internship by 1st May, 2007.

6. Vertical reservation for SC, S.T., & O.B.C. and Horizontal compartmentalized reservation for Physically Handicapped category shall be applicable as per Govt. directives. Candidates who wish to avail the benefit of reservation in physically handicapped category must obtain certificate by appearing before
Special Medical Board constituted by D.G.M.E. at Govt. Medical Colleges, Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Kanpur and K.G. Medical University, Lucknow on 13 & 14 October, 2006.

The Joint Entrance Examination for the year 2007 - 2008, Orissa shall be held on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at selected centers for admission to the first year Degree courses in Engineering/Technology, Architecture, Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT), MBBS/BDS, Pharmacy, MCA, MBA and to the Lateral Entry of State candidates to third semester of degree courses in Engineering/Technology, HMCT and Pharmacy.

Eligibility:
(A) For admission to First Year Bachelor programme in

I. Eligibility: Masters degree in the subject concerned with atleast 50% marks; or Masters degree in allied subjects or Humanities with atleast 55% marks; or Masters degree in Natural Sciences with atleast 60% marks. For Centre for Studies in Science Policy: Masters degree in Social Science or Humanities or Law or Management with 55% marks or Masters degree in Natural Sciences or Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine with 60% marks. Eligibility: This programme is open to candidates having MSc degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades in either biological or physical sciences, as well as to those with an MBBS degree. Candidates having degree in allied subjects in Life Sciences including Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Zoology, or in Chemistry or Physics, or disciplines of Agricultural Science or M.B.B.S. degree are considered eligible. This basic eligibility criterion would remain the same for both categories of applicants above.

(B) MSc in life sciences: An integrated interdisciplinary programme in Modern Biology.

VII. School Of Physical Sciences
(A) Pre-PhD/ PhD in physical sciences (pure physics and interface of physics and chemistry). The emphasis is on topics of chemical physics, computational physics; condensed matter physics, disordered systems, Granular Materials, mathematical physics, Nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, quantum chaos, quantum optics and statistical nuclear physics. Experimental areas include complex fluids, materials science, Superconductivity, Magnetism, nonlinear optics, Semiconductors, Polymers and Nanoparticle Physics.

Eligibility: Masters degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics with atleast 55% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics atleast up to the Bachelors level. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialized in Physical Chemistry/ Chemical Physics at the MSc level. Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with a BTech (Electronics/ Electrical) degree provided they successfully compete in University entrance examination.

For Non Biology Track: MSc in any branch of Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or B.Tech, B.E. or equivalent in any branch of engineering with atleast 55% marks. Biology till class X is required and Class XI and above is preferred.

X. Centre For Biotechnology
Pre-PhD/ PhD Gene Transfer and Expression in Eukaryotic system, Transcription Control and Gene Regulation, Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases, Molecular Immunology, Protein Stability, Conformation & Folding, Optimization of Recombinant Protein Production, Structural Biology & Molecular Bioinformatics, and Biochemical Engineering.

Eligibility: Masters degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry or any branch of Biological Sciences with atleast 55% marks.

XI. Centre For Sanskrit Studies
MPhil/ PhD in Sanskrit
Eligibility: Masters degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to BA) with at least 55% marks.

MA in Sanskrit
Eligibility: Bachelors Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

XII. Centre For Molecular Medicine
Pre-PhD/ PhD in Areas of Metobolic Disorders, Infectious Diseases, Diagnostics and Molecular Endocrinology.

Eligibility: Masters degree in any branch of biological sciences/ MBBS/ BVSc/ BPharm degree with at least 55% marks.

XIII. Centre For The Study Of Law And Governance
MPhil/ PhD in Law and Governance

Eligibility: Masters degree with 50% marks in Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy or an equivalent degree in Law; or 60% in any natural science discipline.

(Category-B) Admission of JRF Holders to MPHIL/ PhD and Pre-PhD/ PhD Programme
The University admits a limited number of candidates to MPhil/ PhD and Pre-PhD/ PhD programmes (without appearing in the Entrance Examination) who have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer & System Sciences, Information Technology & Centres for Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine.

Eligibility: Only those candidates who fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for admission of candidates to MPhil/ PhD and Pre-PhD programmes through Entrance Examination in above Science Schools/ Centres and have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF are eligible to apply.

(Category-C) Part-Time Programmes
The University will hold Entrance Examination for admission to Certificate of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu one-year Part-Time Programmes of Study in the School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies in Delhi only. Since these are Part-Time programmes, it is intended for candidates residing in Delhi NCR only. Admission to Diploma of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma in Proficiency will be made on basis of the past academic record of the candidate which will be assessed in accordance with the criteria laid down by the University for Selection.

1. Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu: A Bachelors Degree under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern of education with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate with Urdu as one of the subjects at High School or Intermediate or B.A. Level.

2. Advanced Diploma of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate, (10+2) or equivalent with atleast 45% marks in aggregate and Diploma of proficiency in language concerned or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.

3. Diploma of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent with atleast 45% marks in aggregate and Certificate of Proficiency in the language concerned or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.

4. Certificate of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent with atleast 45% marks in aggregate.

How To Apply:
Application Forms together with Prospectus can be had either personally on cash payment of Rs. 120/- per set between 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Friday); or through post by sending crossed Bank Draft for Rs. 200/- payable to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi alongwith a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 28 cms X 20 cms to the Assistant registrar (admissions), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067. Candidates should clearly indicate the programme of study for which the Application Form is required on top of the self-addressed envelope. Candidates seeking Application Form and Prospectus from Nepal and Sri Lanka are required to send a bank draft of Indian Rs.250/- or US$ 5.00. Money Orders and Cheques are not accepted.

General Information
Foreign Nationals: All foreign nationals present in India are required to appear in the Entrance Examination at any one of the Centres in India. Candidates from Nepal and Sri Lanka have an additional facility of Entrance Examination Centres at Kathmandu (Nepal) and Colombo (Sri Lanka). However, in the event of their selection, they will be considered for admission subject to equivalence of their qualifications as per eligibility requirements. Foreign Nationals who have passed their qualifying examination from any of the recognized universities in India are required to fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for Indian students as indicated under Category-A above. Foreign Nationals who are selected for admission to any of the programmes of study through Entrance Examination are given preference for fee concessions.

Reservation of seats: 15% seats for SC, 7.5% seats for ST and 3% seats for PH (Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (with a minimum of 40% disability) are reserved for candidates belonging to these categories. All SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/ or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for admission irrespective of their percentage of marks. Candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (who are not from creamy layer and whose parents are not income tax payers) will be eligible for deprivation points. Besides, all candidates who have passed qualifying examination prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study from the identified backward districts will be eligible for deprivation points. All Kashmiri migrants and wards/widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status(For details, refer to Chapter V of Prospectus). Only those candidates will be eligible for deprivation points as stated above who seek admission through Entrance Examination.

Note that:
There being different Application Forms for different levels of programmes of study for admission to

(I) JRF holders in Science Schools;
(II) MPhil/ PhD, Pre-PhD/ PhD, MTech/ PhD, MPH/ PhD;
(III) MA, MSc, MCA;
(IV) For BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages and
(V) Part-Time programmes, candidates should clearly indicate in their request as well as on the top of the self addressed envelope the level of the programme for which the Application form is required.

For admission through Entrance Examination under Category-A above and Certificate of Proficiency (Part-Time Programme) under Category-C above, candidates can opt upto a maximum of three Fields of Study in a single Application Form for the same level of Programmes i.e. COP (Part-Time) or BA (Hons) or MA /MSc/ MCA or MPhil/ PhD, Pre-PhD/ PhD, MTech/ PhD, MPH/ PhD, and are not required to fill separate Application Forms. For admission of JRF holders to MPhil/ PhD and Pre-PhD under Category-B above and for Diploma and Advanced Diploma (Part-Time) programmes under Category-C above, the candidates are required to fill in separate Application Form for each Field of Study. In case a candidate submits more than one Application Form for the same level of programmes of study, his/her candidature will be outrightly rejected. However, this restriction will not apply to candidates who apply for admission of JRF holders to MPhil/ PhD and Pre-PhD programmes under Category-B above and Diploma/ Advanced Diploma of Proficiency (Part-Time Programmes) under Category-C above.

1. Candidates intending to seek Direct Admission to PhD Programme of study in various disciplines, are advised to refer to the admission announcement being notified separately.

2. Candidates who are due to appear in respective qualifying examination prescribed for eligibility for admission to a particular programme are also eligible to appear in the entrance examination. In the event of their selection, they will be admitted only if their results of the qualifying examination are declared before 14th August, 2006 and they fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed in the prospectus.

3. The candidates for admission to the MA/ MSc/ MCA programmes who have obtained their Bachelors degree under the pattern of education other than 10+2+3 would be considered eligible for admission only if they have successfully completed the first year of Masters degree programme or a bridge course in lieu thereof, wherever prescribed, by a recognised University in the relevant discipline with prescribed percentage of marks.

4. The University does not offer correspondence courses.

5. While the University, on its part, shall ensure timely despatch of Application Forms soon after receipt of the request from intending candidates, it will, however, in no way own any responsibility on account of postal delays, if any.
