The MIT Elearning Sloan School of Management and Merrill Lynch took the concept of distance learning and improved on it. The two institutions - as part of an ongoing partnership -successfully adapted a popular MBA investments course for electronic delivery to financial professionals worldwide.

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have recently released a video and audio search tool that allows students to find specific words in video lectures. The MIT Lecture Browser website gives the general public detailed access to more than 200 lectures through the university’s Open Courseware initiative.

This website provides free physics video lecture courses conducted by eminent faculties of reputed institutions like MIT. The course includes topics like Units and Dimensions, Vectors, Velocity and Acceleration, 3D-Kinematics, Newton’s Laws, Work and Energy, Friction, Collisions, Impulse, Static Equilibrium, Circular Motion, Hooke’s Law, Angular Momentum, Kepler’s Laws, Elasticity, Simple Harmonic Motion, Hydrostatics, Doppler Effect, Heat, Electricity, Magnetism Kinetic Gas Theory, Quantum Physics and much more.

The Mit Open Learning initiative will begin with a proof-of-concept pilot that will showcase open content for a small set of subjects to be made freely available by the mid of 2009. The long-term vision is to broaden participation in the initiative, promoting openness, sharing, and collaboration globally.

MIT Open Course Ware makes the course materials that are used in the teaching of almost all MIT’s undergraduate and graduate subjects available on the Web, free of charge, to any user anywhere in the world. MIT Open Course Ware is a large-scale, Web-based publication of MIT course materials, and is not a degree-granting or credit-bearing initiative.
