How To Apply:
The prescribed Application Forms and Guide to Admissions 2006-07 which contains the details of the courses may be obtained from the Assistant Controller (Admissions), Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh -202 002 on payment of the cost of the form as given below either in cash or through crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, AMU, Aligarh payable at the State Bank of India, AMU Branch, (Code 5555) Aligarh. A Self addressed envelope of 30 x 25 cms in size affixing postage stamps of Rs 85/- shall also be enclosed with the request for obtaining the Application Form and Guide through Registered Post.

The requisitions along with the crossed Demand Draft towards the cost of Form and a self addressed stamped envelope as mentioned above should reach the Assistant Controller (Admissions), AMU, Aligarh 202002 at least one week before the last date so that the Application Form and Guide may be sent to the candidates in time.

1 (a) A second class Master’s Degree of a recognized University in Economics, Social Work, Sociology, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Political Science, M.B.A. with specialization in Industrial Relations/Personnel Management with at-least 50 percent marks, OR (b) A second class M. Sc. (Extension in Rural Areas) with at-least 50 percent marks; OR Master’s Degree with at-least 40 percent marks in aggregate in one of the subjects at (a) above and with three years experience as Office-bearer of registered Trade Union or a Worker Teacher/ Trainer, Rural Educator/Volunteer under the CBWE with three years experience. 2. Literacy in information technology. Age: (a) Between 24 and 28 years as on 1st April, 2005 but relaxable in case of (i) candidates belonging to ST by 5 years, (ii) OBC by 3 years (iii) displaced persons who migrated on or after 1st January, 1964 and on or before 25th March, 1971 from erstwhile East Pakistan by 10 years and (b) in case of Rural Volunteers of the Board up-to 30 years. Desirable: First hand knowledge and experience in Trade Unionism, Industrial Relations, Labour Laws, Labour Welfare, Teaching experience, work in rural areas etc. Candidates having working knowledge of Hindi will be preferred.

Applications complete in all respects in the format given in Employment News Paper dated 23rd July 2005 should be sent to the Director, Central Board for Workers Education, North Ambazari Road, Nagpur 440033, so as to reach within 30 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News. “Application for 22nd Batch of EOTC” should be written on envelop containing the application. Applications should be accompanied by a non refundable crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) towards application fee drawn in favour of the Director, Central Board for Workers Education, Nagpur, payable at any nationalised bank at Nagpur. No other mode of payment is acceptable. ST candidates are not required to pay the fee. Persons employed in Government/Public Sector Undertakings/ Autonomous Bodies must apply through proper channel or produce a NO OBJECTION CER TIFICATE at the time of Test/Interview. Certificates are not required at this stage, which wilt be verified at the time of Written Test/interview. However, photocopies of the Certificates may be enclosed with the Application Form. In case of ST/OBC candidates, a certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed proforma is needed if relaxation in age and/or application fee is sought. Candidates should paste, not staple or pin their recent photograph on the application. The selected candidates will be required to undergo training at Indian Institute of Workers Education, Mumbai, the apex training institute of Central Board for Workers Education. The duration of training course is FIVE months. Stipend at the rate of Rs. 2,000/- per month will be paid during the training period. In addition, food allowance @ Rs. 2,000/- per month will be paid during the training period. The trainees should stay in the hostel, which is provided free of cost. Mess arrangements are available on payment terms by the trainees. Employment as Education Officer, if offered, will be in the pay scale of Rs. 5500-175-9000 plus usual allowance as admissible from time to time under the Central Government Rules as adopted by the Board. The candidates before joining the training will have to execute a bond on stamp paper of appropriate value that they will serve the Board for a period of three years, if offered employment. The bond would be null and void if employment is not offered within a period of six months from the date of completion of training. The initial appointment will be on probation of two years. Education Officers are liable to be transferred anywhere in the country.

Bangalore: India’s first Space University takes wings in August

Indias first space university is all set to take wings next month seeking to groom tailor-made experts to fuel the countrys satellite and rocket programmes.

August middle is our target, said G Madhavan Nair, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, which is setting up the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) and expected to meet the high technology requirements of ISRO.

It would initially operate from the campus of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre at Thiruvananthapuram, a lead centre of ISRO, which will create a full-fledged infrastructure for IIST on a picturesque site in Ponmudi near the Kerala state capital in about two years.

Course: Certificate Course in Geriatric Care

Description: Certificate Course in Geriatric Care (Six-Month) Application in prescribed form from interested candidates is invited for admission to Six-Month Certificate Course in Geriatric Care (Full-time) at New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Agartala under Government of India’s Project, National Initiative on Care for Elderly (NICE). The Course aims to develop a team of skilled and committed professionals to work as Geriatric Animators and to generate skilled manpower focused on interventions in the family and community setting. The course covers subjects like Social Gerontology, Basic Geriatrics, Applied Geriatrics and Geriatric Nursing.

i. The Matriculation Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination, which is equivalent to Secondary Examination after a period of 10 years study.
ii. Preference will be given to candidates working as Old Age Care Givers, Health Workers, Counsellors, Social Workers, Home Care Workers, Nursing Assistance or in Age Care Agencies/ Organisations.
iii. Age Limit: He/she has completed the age of 18 years as on October 1, 2006.
iv. Upper Age Limit: Not more than 45 years as on October 1, 2006.

Selection Criterion: Selection will be made through a Common Aptitude Test (CAT) to be held at New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Agartala on January 7, 2007 followed by Group Discussion and Interview. Reservation of Seats

Fifteen percent of the seats are reserved for the Scheduled Caste, 7.5 percent seats for The Scheduled Tribe candidates, 27% for the OBC candidates and 3 percent for the following category of disabled who will be able to take up the job of care givers:

1. Persons with hearing impairment, low vision fitted with appropriate aids/assistive device to enable them to function with normal hearing, vision, speech etc.
2. Persons with minor disability in one of the lower or upper limb that does not restrict their job of care giving if fitted with appropriate appliances or even without it.

General Instruction for Filling-Up Applicants

1. The application form is to be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting.
2. A stamp size photograph, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer, is to be pasted on the application form.
3. Two passport size photograph duly singed in by the candidate are to be attached with the application form.
4. The prospectus along with the prescribed application from can be had from NISD office, for Rs. 50/- personally from 10AM to 5PM on all working days, or by sending a DD/ Pay Order of Rs. 80/- The Pay Order /DD should be in favour of the Director, National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi.
5. The complete application form in all respect should reach to Deputy Director, Old Age Care Division, National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, West Block 1, Wing 3, 1st Floor, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066.
6. The Common Aptitude Test (CAT) would be held at New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Agartala.
7. There is no course fee. The Course is purely non-residential.
8. Incomplete application or the application received after the last date will not be accepted
9. The list of successful candidates in CAT Examination would be displayed at NISD R.K. Puram New Delhi and other Regional Centres.
10. Attested copies of all relevant documents attested by the Gazetted officer may be enclosed with the application form.

The forms can also be downloaded from below link or the Website (http://www.nisd.gov.in/) of the Institute. However, such forms duly filled in should be submitted along with the Draft for Rs. 80/- as explained earlier. Incomplete applications or the applications received after the last date will not be considered. There are 30 seats for each Centre. The course is purely non-residential. Thus, the selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements for board & lodging.

Description: Post Graduate Diploma in Integrated Geriatric Care.

Essential: 55% Marks in Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) from a recognized University or Institute

Desirable: Preference will be given to the candidates:-

1. Having a degree in Sociology, Social Work / Social Welfare, Anthropology, Psychology, Nursing, Home Science and related fields
2. Having experience(s) of working in Age Care Organisations
3. Holding certificate(s) in the field of Old Age Care

Age Limit: Not less than 21 years as on October 1, 2006
Upper Age Limit: Not more than 45 years as on October 1, 2006.

How To Apply:
1. Selection will be made through a Common Aptitude Test (CAT) to be held at New Delhi on January 14, 2007 followed by Group Discussion and Interview.
2. Candidates may send their applications in a prescribed form given in the Prospectus which can be had from Old Age Care Division, National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, West Block-1, Wing - 3, First Floor, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066 (Tel. 26106883) from 10 AM to 5 PM on all working days by paying Rs. 50/- personally, or by sending Draft/Pay Order for Rs.80/-.
3. The Draft/Pay Order should be in favour of The Director, National Institute of Social Defence, West Block-1, Wing-7, Ground Floor, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066, payable at New Delhi.
4. Forms would be available from November 17-29 , 2006 and last date for receipt of the duly filled-in application is December 8, 2006 and last date for North Eastern Region and Andaman & Nicobar Islands is December 15, 2006.
5. The forms can also be downloaded from the Website (www.nisd.gov.in ) of the Institute. However, such forms duly filled in should be submitted along with the Draft for Rs.80/- as explained earlier. Incomplete applications or the applications received after the last date will not be considered.
6. There are 20 seats. The course is purely non-residential. Thus, the selected candidates will have to make their own arrangements for board& lodging.

Fifteen percent of the seats are reserved for the scheduled caste, 7.5 percent seats for the scheduled tribe candidates, 27% for the OBC candidates and 3 percent for the following category of disabled who will be able to take up the job of care givers :

i) Persons with hearing impairment, low vision fitted with appropriate aids/assistive device to
enable them to function with normal hearing, vision speech etc.
ii) Persons with minor disability in one of the lower or upper limb that does not restrict their job of
care giving if fitted with appropriate appliances or even without it.
