Eligibility Criteria for M.V.Sc. / M.F.Sc. Degree Courses
Candidates possessing a B.V.Sc./B.F.Sc. degree of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to apply.
Only 85% of the admission strength for the year is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu (the remaining 15% is reserved for candidates from other states through ICAR). If there are any unfilled seats under the state quota, the same will be filled with candidates from other states who have applied and appeared for the entrance examination conducted by the University.
Candidates who have studied under conventional system should possess a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates with an OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 7.0 out of 10.0 or 70% aggregate under semester pattern alone are eligible to apply for admission to M.V.Sc./M.F.Sc. degree programme. Candidates who have passed B.V.Sc. degree under the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) regulations should have obtained a minimum of 55% marks. For SC/ST candidates a minimum pass is sufficient.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Degree Programme
Candidates with an OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 7.0 out of 10.0 under semester system or 70% aggregate in their Master’s degree alone are eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D. Degree Programme in Veterinary and Fisheries Sciences. For SC/ST candidates a minimum pass in enough.
Only 75% of the admission strength for the year is available for the candidates from Tamil Nadu. The remaining 25% is reserved for candidates from other states. If there are any unfilled seats under state quota, the same will be filled up with candidates of other states. All candidates should apply and appear for the entrance examination conducted by the university.
Veterinary and Animal Sciences
Candidates with basic B.V.Sc. degree and Master’s degree in the concerned field of specialization from a recognized University shall alone be eligible to apply.
Fisheries Science
Candidates with basic B.F.Sc. degree and Master’s degree in Fisheries Science or any other degree recognized as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil in Biotechnology
A candidate with Master’s degree in Science in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Gene Technology, Animal Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Genetics, Marine Biology and Fisheries Sciences (except Fisheries Economics and Fisheries Extension) from a recognized university or any other degree recognized as equivalent thereto shall apply.
Candidates with an OGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 under trimester system or 6.0 out of 10.0 under semester system or 60% aggregate in Master’s degree shall alone apply. For SC/ST candidates a minimum pass is sufficient.
Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduate Diploam in Bioinformatics
A graduate with any one of the following qualifications: B.V.Sc., B.V.Sc. & A.H., B.F.Sc., B.Sc. (Agri.), B.Sc. (Horti.). B.E., B.Tech., M.B.B.S., B.D.S., M.Sc., MCA or Postgraduate degree with Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biophysics / Botany / Zoology / Biology / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Pharmacology / Computer Science / Statistics of any recognized University with OGPA of 3.0/4.0 in trimester system or 7.0/10.0 in semester system or 50% in conventional system. A minimum pass is sufficient for SC/ST candidates. Admissions open to other state candidates also.
Eligibility Criteria for Post-Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosis / Companion Animal Practice
Candidates possessing a B.V.Sc. degree of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereof shall be eligible to apply with OGPA 3.0/4.0 in trimester system or OGPA 7.0 / 10.0 in semester system or 50% in conventional system. A minimum pass is sufficient for SC/ST candidates.
Eligibility Criteria for Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management in Animal and Fisheries Sciences
A Candidates possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in professional courses like B.V.Sc., B.F.Sc., B.Sc., of recognized University (or) equivalent (or) any Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences or Arts with an OGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in trimester system (or) 7.0 out of 10.0 in semester system (or 50% in conventional system. A minimum pass is sufficient for SC/ST candidates.

Registration fee: Rs.500/- for other Communities and Rs.250/- for SC/ST for each course.
Registration fee will be accepted only by means of crossed demand draft payable at Chennai. The Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the “FINANCE OFFICER, TANUVAS, CHENNAI - 600 051″. Demand draft drawn prior to 30.07.2006 will not be accepted.
Separate application forms should be used for M.V.Sc./M.F.Sc., Ph.D. (Veterinary)/ Ph.D. (Fisheries) and M.Phil Biotechnology/ PG Diploma in Bioinformatics/ Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosis/ Companion Animal Practice/ Business Management in Animal and Fisheries Sciences.
Candidates are requested to send a self addressed envelope (size: 15ยด10 cm) stamped for Rs.5/- along with application.
Applications received without Registration fee will not be accepted.
Applications received after the due date will summarily be rejected. The University will not be responsible for any postal delay.
Filled in application and Hall ticket along with Registration fee (in the form of Demand Draft) should reach the “Chairman, Admission Committee (PG), Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Madhavaram Milk Colony, Chennai-600 051 on or before 25.08.2006 5.45 p.m.
