Announcement for Admission to the Post-Graduate Degree Programme in M.A. In Education (Elementary) 2007-2009

This is the second year of programme offered by TISS in collaboration with five institutions: NIAS (Bangalore) HBCSE (Mumbai), Vidya Bhawan Society (Udaipur), Digantar (Jaipur) and Eklavya (M.P). This programme is designed to suit working people who may wish to study in their own time, both within and outside Mumbai, with special interest in elementary education. A limited number of scholarships and freeships are available for the deserving students.

Eligibility: A Bachelors Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent from a recognized University in any discipline with a minimum average of 50% of marks (40% for SCs / STs).

Application Forms and Information Brochure: These may be obtained by sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn) of the Institute along with a Demand Draft for Rs.550/-, drawn in favour of Registrar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai; or

By downloading the form from www.tiss.edu and submitting in with the processing fee of Rs.500/- to be paid in cash at the Institute cash counter or by Demand draft, or From the Cash Counter at TISS, Mumbai against cash payment of Rs.500/- Unemployed SC / ST candidates, whose parents / guardians income were Rupees One lakh or below for financial year 2005-2006 can obtain the Application Form free of cost. They can download the form from www.tiss.edu and submit it along with a true copy of Caste / Tribe Certificate and income certificate or they can send request letter along with a true copy of Caste / Tribe Certificate, Income certificate and a self-addressed cloth lined envelope (20cm x 28cm) to the Deputy Registrar (Gen.Admn) of the institute.

Reservations: Government of India norms will be applicable for admission of SC / ST students and Persons with Disability (PWD)

Last Date for Receipt of Completed Applications at the Institute by hand or by post 29.12.2006

Key dates: Written Test: 04.02.2007. Personal Interview: 3.3.2007- 11.3.2007
