The Tamil Nadu Private Professional Colleges Association Health Sciences has been permitted by the Justice S.S. Subramani Committee to conduct a common entrance test (CET) to admit students to management quota seats in private medical and paramedical colleges in the State. As per the tentative programme given by the Association to Justice Subramani, the CET will be held on August 28 to fill nearly 3,200 seats in one medical college, seven dental colleges and a host of institutions offering pharmacy, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and Indian medicine courses. The Supreme Court on 23 Sept 05 has permitted member colleges of the All India Medical and Engineering Colleges Association to admit students on the basis of their 10+2 marks to engineering seats left vacant after the accommodation of all Common Entrance Test (CET) qualifiers.
