IIM Ahmedabad has crossed the first barrier towards becoming an international business school with the first batch of its residential executive management programme enrolling about 40 per cent overseas students. of the 67 students joining the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives in April 2006,26 are from abroad. Barring one student from Malaysia, the other overseas executives are from the US and the UK. Many of them also plan to work in India, said Prof. Raghuram, who headed the committee that designed -the curriculum for middle-and senior-level executives with international exposure and work experience. Designed by IIMA professors with the help of corporate leaders, the programme has received such an overwhelming response that the institute has started planning for the second year. There will be 25 per cent fee hike (from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh) for the second batch and the number of students will double, he said. IIMA director Bakul Dholakia said on an average, the students would be 32-year-old executives with a work experience of over nine years and a GMAT score of 700. Having cleared GMAT, he pointed out, these students could have joined any reputed B-school abroad, but they chose India. Students coming from abroad to study in India is the beginning of the process of reversal, Dholakica said.

The Delhi CBSE Class X result is a bit of a mixed bag. The pass percentage, at 60.84%, is up by 1.09% from the last year. Boys' pass percentage is just 3.1% behind girls'. There are 3,010 students with scores of 90% and above and 163 have scored 100 in maths. In science, 54 students have hit a perfect 10, the highest in the country. The syllabi of all the 21 B Tech courses being offered by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) and its affiliated colleges have been revised, making them more industry oriented. The university has also revised the syllabi of MTech, MBA and MCA. New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) announced dates for its National Talent Search Examination for 2007. It offers 1,000 scholarships for students of Class VIII and X.

In a bid to save new entrants from ragging, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has launched a students helpline. Assistant registrar Satyamurthi told agencies that the initiative would arrest the ragging of new comers by their seniors to a large extent. The helpline team constitutes 11 senior professors of the institute, he said.
Their mobile helpline numbers would be made available to all the new students at the time of admission, he said. The students can lodge a ragging complaint over the mobile phone and all the team members will immediately rush to the spot, he said.
