University Grants Commission (UGC) - Selection and Awards Bureau
The University Grants Commission invited applications for the scheme for Award of Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST candidates.
The Scheme has been initiated keeping in view of the social background of candidates from the deprived section of the Society and to provide them opportunity to undertake Post-Graduate Level studies in professional subjects like Engg. & Tech, Management, Pharmacy etc. (in Indian Universities and Colleges).
The objective of the scheme is to provide an opportunity to SC/ST candidates to undertake Post Graduate Level Studies in Professional Subjects at Indian Universities and Colleges.
The candidate should have graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admissible degree at the Post-Graduate Level in any of the professional subject in a recognized Universities / Colleges. The upper age limit for male applicants is 45 years as on 1st July on the year of and 50 years in the case of female candidates. The tenure of fellowship is for completion of Post-Graduation.
The value of scholarship shall be for professional course Rs.5, 000/- p.m. (M. Tech) with the Contingency of Rs.15, 000/- p.a. and for other courses Rs.3, 000/- p.m. with the contingency of Rs.10, 000/- p.a. respectively.
The application in the prescribed form given below, may be sent to the Joint Secretary (SA), University Grants Commission, UGC Block, Delhi University, South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi 110021 duly forwarded through the University / Institute / College where the fellow desires to undertake Post-Graduate within one month after the date of issue of advertisement.
The selection will be made on the basis of merit and on the recommendations of the Selection Committee, constituted by the Commission. The decision of the Commission shall be final. Direct and incomplete applications will not be entertained. Canvassing in any form will be treated as disqualification.

Jadavpur University, stung by the medical entrance scam, has threatened to sever ties with the state joint entrance examination (JEE) system.
But before it carries out its threat, the university wants to give the state government a chance by submitting a list of proposals to overhaul the faulty system, which it wants the JEE board to accept in full.
