Geoffrey Pyatt, Deputy Chief of Mission, US Embassy, said that India is getting more attention from the US, than never before, and it would also be in the list of the its most important partners in times to come.
Pyatt was speaking at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) on US-India strategic partnership under Kanpur Indo-American Programme (KIAP) today. KIAP was started in 1962 for the development of IIT-K. Under the programme, the institute was funded by the US from 1962 to 1972. Even many faculty members came from US universities. However, later, the programme lost momentum and the assistance from US stopped.
Now after three decades, when IIT-K is rated among the top technical institutes in the world, the US has again decided to enter into collaboration with the institute.
