B.Sc/B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) : Five year course, 125 seats(78 General, 15 reserved for SC, 8 for ST, 2 for physically handicapped, 4 for Foreign Nationals and 18 for NRI sponsored students).
Minimum eligibility : l2th standard with 50% marks in aggregate and 35% in each subject. Those appearing for qualifying exam. by April, 2006 may also apply. National Admission Test at major cities.

President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will reach Kolkata today where he will take two sessions of classes on Nano Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kharagpur.
Besides, taking classes of B. Tech., Post Graduate and Phd. at the IIT, Kalam will also lay the foundation stone of the Dr. B.C. Roy Multi-Specialty Research Centre here.

Students would henceforth be enrolled in this institute through an all India level examination.

BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination will be conducted on 16-17 February 2008. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has instituted this examination with an objective to certify Bioinformatics professionals and to facilitate industries and potential employers for recruitment. The wait for more IIT -level engineering colleges is set to get longer. For the time being at least, the ministry of human resource developments plan of upgrading five engineering colleges may have been stymied by the state governments.
These institutes, to be known as Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), are existing engineering colleges which the Centre will fund and upgrade to the same level as the IITs. West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have objected to the Centres proposal to take over the institutes.
